Dinesh Karthik has explained why Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel didn’t get to play in the T20 World Cup and said that both men were aware of the team management’s decision. India exited the tournament during the semi-final stage after a crushing loss to England, with many saying that the team management missed a trick by not playing Chahal.

Harbhajan Singh was left scratching his head as to why India didn’t have a leg-spinner in the team and said with his credentials. He should be the first-choice spinner in the side. “I don’t know what are the reasons that a champion bowler (Yuzvendra Chahal) is not in the team. He must have done something to someone that he is not getting a game. With his credentials he should have been your first-choice spinner,” said Harbhajan. So, they were very aware and were preparing in such a way that when they get an opportunity, they would try and do their best. But there might be a chance that they ended up not playing,” said Karthik.

Both Chahal and Harshal were made aware of the team’s decision at the beginning

Karthik, during an interaction with Cricbuzz as quoted by the ICC website, said that the players didn’t sulk. Get upset as they were told by the team management that they would get to play if the conditions were suitable. The wicketkeeper also said that Chahal and Patel were preparing themselves to be ready if they had gotten an opportunity. “They didn’t sulk or get upset once because they were very sure. At the start of the tournament, they were told that under these conditions, we would be playing you. Otherwise, it might be difficult.

“So, when that clarity is there from the coach and captain, it makes the job easier for the player. You just start looking inward and thinking, okay what do I do to start preparing better. That is what they were doing, and had they been given a chance, they would have given their best. This is a very high-intensity tournament. As mentioned, he played a lot of matches for India, and he knows the feeling of being dropped,” he added.

Pakistan had a rollercoaster of a ride in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 subsequent to losing two progressive matches in the Super 12 phase to come to the finals of the occasion. The Babar Azam-led side were ultimately crushed because of England in the summit showdown which delegated England as victors of the world cup.

Babar Azam ought to step down as captain, according to a number of cricket enthusiasts. In addition, Pakistan great Shahid Afridi is of the opinion that Babar should focus on batting rather than taking charge of the team in T20 matches and should lead the team in ODIs and Tests.

“Babar was not happy with the management at Karachi Kings as it is. I feel he should take a tough call and quit captaincy in T20 cricket. He should focus on his batting and lead the team in Tests and one-dayers. I respect Babar a lot and that’s why I don’t want him to take the pressure of captaincy in T20 cricket. I want him to focus on his captaincy in longer formats. You do have players like Shadab, Rizwan, and even Shan Masood who can lead the team in the T20 format,”

Afridi said in an interview with Samaa TV.

Babar Azam faced lot of heat during the marquee event

The Pakistan captain’s lacklustre performance throughout the T20 World Cup was one of the highlights. Babar simply did not appear to be in pristine touch, with the exception of the sensational 53-run innings against New Zealand.

In addition, Babar scored a single digit in each of his first four Super 12 matches and a 32 in his final match against England. With the willow, which has been affected by the pressures of being a captain, his demise has been observed by fans and cricketers.

Sunday’s final T20 World Cup 2022 match saw Pakistan lose to England by five wickets. Javed Miandad, a former Pakistan captain, questioned the team’s inclusion of foreign coaches in his post-game remarks. Miandad, who has also coached the Pakistan cricket team in the past, stated that bringing in foreign mentors or coaches prevents former players from participating in the national team.

He went on to say that Pakistan team management’s mentality makes their players’ futures uncertain and that the same problem has been fixed in the past.

“Apne logon ko dekhein, apne logon ne jo cricket kheli hai… Ye jo players khel rahe hain, ab ye aaj khel rahe hain. Inka future kya hai? Unko bhi pata hai ki aaj maine kuch nahi kiya, toh kal main kya karunga? Fixing iss vajah se hui thi, ke hamara koi pata nahi hai, ki kal kaat naa de humko,”

said Javed Miandad on Cricket Pakistan.

When it comes to the T20 World Cup final, Ben Stokes led England to a 5-wicket victory over Pakistan with an unbeaten 52 off 49 balls. England successfully chased down the 138-run target at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, despite Haris Rauf’s 2 for 23.

Before that, Sam Curran came back and went 3 for 12, while Adil Rashid went 2 for 22, as England limited Pakistan to 137 for 8. Jos Buttler, the captain of England, decided to bowl first after winning the toss.

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar and India fast bowler Mohammed Shami got into a Twitter argument after Pakistan lost the 2022 T20 World Cup final to England by five wickets.

Akhtar tweeted an emotional emoticon after Pakistan’s defeat in the Melbourne title match by 137 runs

Then Shami, who was part of India’s T20 World Cup squad, retweeted Akhtar’s comment and said: “Sorry brother. It’s call (sic) karma”. The tweet went viral within minutes. Then, Akhtar also responded to the tweet.

“And this what you call sensible tweet..” Akhtar tweeted, along with a photo of Indian cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle and one of his tweets which read: “Credit to Pakistan. Few teams would have defended 137 the way they did. Best bowling team.” Akhtar’s response also went viral.

In terms of the match, Ben Stokes and Sam Curran performed admirably as England defeated Pakistan by five wickets to become the first team in history to win both the 50-over and 20-over white-ball championships.

Jos Buttler’s team held Pakistan to a score of 137-8 in front of 80,462 enthusiastic fans at the packed Melbourne Cricket Ground. Curran, the tournament’s player of the match, scored 3-12, and Adil Rashid contributed 2-22.

England responded by falling to 49-3 in the sixth over as they struggled to gain momentum against a ferocious pace attack and were unable to score boundaries.

Babar Azam: 3/10

124 runs @ 17.71, SR: 93.23, HS: 53

Babar had a torrid time until the semi-final, when Pakistan needed to chase only 153 – a target that required a player of Babar’s ‘genre’ – and he rose to the task with a 42-ball 53. He tried to break the shackles in the final as well, but failed in the attempt against a canny, versatile England attack.

Mohammad Rizwan: 5/10

175 runs @ 25.00, SR: 109.37, HS: 57
C: 3, St: 1

Barring the semi-final, where he made a 43-ball 57, Rizwan varied between scratchy and efficient, and finished as Pakistan’s joint-highest run-scorer of the tournament. His other innings in excess of 30 came in low chases against the Netherlands and Bangladesh. He was tidy behind wickets.

Shan Masood: 5/10

175 runs @ 43.75, SR: 118.24, HS: 52*

Shan’s two best innings – against India and Zimbabwe – came in defeats, but one can hardly fault him for that. His 28-ball 38 in the final was a decent effort too. Until he was there, Pakistan were in the hunt for 160: they added only 16 in 21 balls after he fell.

Mohammad Haris: 7/10

97 runs @ 24.25, SR: 144.77, HS: 31

Coming into the World Cup squad only after Fakhar Zaman was ruled out with an injury, Haris played two outrageous blinders against South Africa and Bangladesh. In the semi-final, with the asking rate under control, he batted deep to ensure there was no collapse. He struggled in the final.

Iftikhar Ahmed: 5/10

114 runs @ 22.80, SR: 122.58, HS: 51; 3.5-0-28-1

By scoring 102 in 69 balls in the two matches against India and South Africa, and 12 in 24 balls across the other five matches, Iftikhar epitomised the inconsistency one associates with both 20-over cricket and Pakistan. He bowled a decent spell against Bangladesh.

Shadab Khan: 9.5/10

98 runs @ 24.50, SR: 168.96, HS: 58
11 wickets @ 15.00, ER: 6.34, BBI: 3-22

Had Pakistan won the final, Shadab might have been the Player of the Tournament. It is difficult to find fault with his tournament effort – and the above numbers do not even include his superlative fielding. Even in the final, he hit 20 in 14 balls, conceded 20 in his four overs, and got a wicket.

Mohammad Nawaz: 4/10

68 runs @ 13.60, SR: 106.25, HS: 28
3 wickets @ 22.33, ER: 7.44, BBI: 2-42

That Nawaz’s economy rate, of 7.44, was the worst for Pakistan, probably tells you how good they were with the ball. He will perhaps be remembered for that last over against India, but he played cameos against Zimbabwe and South Africa, and kept sneaking in the odd tight over here and there.

Mohammed Wasim: 7/10

8 wickets @ 15.50, ER: 7.29, BBI: 4-24
16 runs @ 8.00, SR 72.72

Pakistan drafted Wasim into the side after the lack of a fourth fast bowler cost them the match against India. Wasim kept clocking 140 kph consistently, took 4-24 against Zimbabwe, and bowled vital spells against South Africa and New Zealand. His batting did not work out.

Shaheen Shah Afridi: 8.5/10

11 wickets @ 14.09, ER: 6.15, BBI: 4-22

Shaheen, after having 11-92 in his last 17.1 overs, hobbling out of the final will remain a lasting, poignant moment. He had been undergoing rehabilitation ahead of the World Cup, and recovered after two ordinary games where he was not at his quickest. He bowled quicker and found his accuracy as the tournament went on – until his injury caught up with him with he had another 11 balls to push Pakistan towards history. Pakistan’s plans fell apart as he left. Some stories are not to be written.

Haris Rauf: 8.5/10

8 wickets @ 22.25, ER: 6.84, BBI: 2-23

Hostile inside the powerplay and canny at the death, Rauf was at his fastest best in various phases of the tournament. Quick enough to hurry batters with his pace, he slid in the slower ball without visible change in action. Those two sixes by Virat Kohli took some sheen off those numbers, but they still look fantastic.

Naseem Shah: 8/10

3 wickets @ 54.00, ER: 6.23, BBI: 1-11

In the final, Naseem bowled perhaps the greatest 4-0-30-0 in the history of Twenty20 cricket. Until the final, he had gone for exactly a run a ball. This, despite bowling almost entirely inside the powerplay or at the death. That, in a nutshell, sums up how fantastic Naseem had been in the tournament. The youngest, least talked-about of Pakistan’s pace troika was the most consistent – and perhaps their best in this World Cup.

T20 World Cup’22 FINAL: With their victory over Pakistan in the 2022 Men’s T20 World Cup final at the MCG by five wickets with one over remaining, England became the first team to win both men’s World Cups at the same time.

Ben Stokes, England’s match-winner in the 50-over final three years ago, led another run chase and scored his first 50 in T20 internationals in the biggest game of the format. He had fought his way to 24 from 34 balls, but a flurry of boundaries in the final over took away the scoring pressure.

When Shaheen Shah Afridi caught Shadab Khan in the 13th over of England’s chase, he changed the game and got rid of Harry Brook. The realisation that Shaheen had jarred his right knee, which had previously threatened to exclude him from the tournament, brought an abrupt end to Pakistan’s celebrations.

After receiving treatment, he attempted to return for his third over with 41 needed off 30 balls, but he pulled out of his run-up once and sent a shot at 71 mph/114 kph to Moeen Ali. Stokes focused on Iftikhar Ahmed after he completed his overrun: He missed just short of long-off, slammed him through cover for four, and then he launched him back over his head for six.

The required rate was less than a run per ball when Moeen started the following over with back-to-back boundaries off Mohammad Wasim. Wasim went back to York Moeen, but Stokes knocked him out of cover and threw him through the leg side to win the championship for England.

HIGHLIGHTS

Curran strikes early – and late

Throughout this T20 World Cup, England primarily used Sam Curran at the final whistle, but his role slightly changed in the knockout rounds. Curran bowled a second powerplay over in both the semi-final and final due to the inclusion of Chris Jordan, who took Mark Wood’s place after he was injured in the previous two games.

It was very important. After being asked to bat first on a slow pitch, Pakistan started slowly. Their only boundary in the first four overs was a six that Mohammad Rizwan slog-swept off Chris Woakes. Curran struck in his second over as Rizwan tried to pick up the pace, inside-edging a powerful cover drive onto the base of his leg stump.

Utilising the MCG’s vast square boundaries to his advantage, Curran returned at the final point and had Shan Masood and Mohammad Nawaz caught by Liam Livingstone at deep midwicket. He won awards for player of the match and tournament after posting remarkable figures of 3 for 12 in four boundary-less overs.

Rashid finds his form

Adil Rashid had a World Cup with two halves:In his first three appearances, he went 0 for 89 in 12 overs, but England insisted they were confident he would perform well when it mattered. He did his job well, going 1 for 16 and 1 for 20 against Sri Lanka and India, respectively. In the final, he made two crucial breakthroughs.

Mohammad Haris, the perilous No. 1 in Pakistan3, who attempted to clear long-on off Rashid’s first ball while running down the field, holed out to Stokes and was caught by neither Babar Azam nor Shan Masood. Masood, on the other hand, took on Livingstone and smashed him back to the ground for four, then six, to win by 16 in his one and only over.

Babar misjudged his googly back to Rashid when he hit the next ball, and Rashid then hit a wicket maiden as Iftikhar struggled to read his variations. During a 36-run partnership with Masood, he gave up only one boundary in his final over, when Shadab hit him over the head, but regular wickets at the end kept Pakistan at 137.

Chaos in the chase

One crucial battle stood out going into the final: Pakistan’s new-ball bowlers versus England’s opening batters. Jos Buttler and Alex Hales defeated India in the semi-final, but the tournament’s best pace trio was Shaheen, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf.

Shaheen landed the first punch, ripping Hales’ middle stump out of the ground with a full ball that brushed Buttler’s back pad on the way through. Buttler responded by saying: Naseem overpitched, frantic for one more early wicket, and was pinged through the covers for back to back limits.

After Dawid Malan failed to recover from a groin strain, Phil Salt batted for the first time in the tournament and scored two boundaries. However, when looking for a third, he picked short midwicket off Rauf, who roared in joy.

Despite Naseem beating Buttler’s outside edge five times thanks to one wild ball down the leg side and an audacious, trademark scoop shot that flew away for six, his sublime second over somehow cost 11 runs. England finished a chaotic powerplay 49 for 3 with Rauf reaping the benefits in the following over as Buttler fell behind.

The Stokes show

With the required rate under control, Stokes and Brook decided to work hard for the next six overs to reduce dot balls without taking too many chances. As the ball got older, both players had trouble timing, and it was hard to get boundaries: After the break for drinks, Stokes only scored one run from his first nine balls and was repeatedly bowled out by Naseem in another brilliant over.

With 45 required off 31 balls, Stokes appeared to be in trouble; however, he relieved some of the pressure by scoring four off the final ball of Rauf’s third over. When Shaheen signalled to the dugout that his night was over, he recognized an opportunity. When the part-time offspinner Iftikhar mistimed his first ball toward Babar at long-off, he threw his head back in disbelief. The ball missed the mark, and he smashed his final two balls to the boundary.

After bringing up his first T20I fifty with a slap through the off side, Stokes swung and missed at Wasim before pushing him away for the winning run with the scores level. With their legacy as one of the great limited-overs teams secured, England’s bench ran onto the field in celebration.

England should consider picking David Willey for Sunday’s T20 World Cup final against Pakistan, as he may be a better fit for the MCG than Chris Jordan. That is the view of Eoin Morgan, their ex-captain, who has been following the team around Australia in his new role as a pundit for Sky Sports. Jordan, a key player in T20Is throughout Morgan’s tenure. Replaced the injured Mark Wood in the England team for Thursday’s semi-final win against India at Adelaide Oval.

He returned figures of 3 for 43 across his four overs and was singled out for praise by Buttler. Who said Jordan had delivered “a hell of a performance” after being asked to bowl three of the last five overs. But Morgan suggested the dimensions at the MCG. Where the straight boundaries are slightly shorter than at Adelaide Oval but the square boundaries are considerably longer. Might not suit his yorker-heavy method at the death. Suggested England could bring Willey into the side in a bid to take early wickets.

The all-round performance and variation of Willy is vital at this pitch

Asked on Sky’s Cricket Podcast how big a loss Wood would be if he fails to recover in time for Sunday’s final, Morgan said: “When you look at conditions here, it just suits him and it probably works against someone like Chris Jordan at the death bowling his yorkers. Straight at the MCG, it’s so short. There’s very little margin for error. “If Mark Wood isn’t fit, you might even see someone like Dave Willey come in to swing it, and then you can bowl him and Chris Woakes at the death. Bowling into the wicket, forcing the Pakistan batters to hit square and creating catching opportunities. There might be another selection question for Jos Buttler.

“It goes without saying, you have to have those ground dimensions working in your favour in big games. Because if you make basic mistakes and get hit to the short side the whole time, you’re going to be up against it.” Morgan was also asked about the possibility that the final could be decided by a Super Over. Like the 50-over World Cup final in 2019, and who he would choose to bowl one for England. “If you were to say flat wicket. Everything set fair at the MCG, I think it’d be Sam Curran,” he said.

In Thursday’s second semi final at the Adelaide Oval, England’s white-ball brilliance defeated India’s T20 World Cup marketing campaign.

Due to Hardik Pandya’s blistering 63 off 33 balls and Virat Kohli’s 50 off 40, India posted a par-for-the-course score of 168/6. England will now compete for the trophy in the final against Pakistan, who defeated New Zealand in the first semifinal, on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. However, the Indian bowlers were stung by Jos Buttler and Alex Hales, as the England openers went all the way to overhaul India’s entire and deliver a ten-wicket hammering to Rohit Sharma and Co.

In just 16 overs, Buttler (80* off 49) and Hales (86* off 47) made fun of the clueless Indian bowling attack by scoring 170-runs without being run out to advance to the final. The two Englishmen hit a total of 13 fours and 10 sixes during the blistering run-chase.

Monty Panesar, a former England spinner, questioned India’s lacklustre performance, describing it as “overconfident” and lacking a strategy

“Why did Rohit (Sharma) not have Plan B or Plan C? India have played really good cricket in the tournament, but they needed to understand that it was a semifinal. Rohit expected Bhuvneshwar (Kumar) to get some swing, but that didn’t happen. So he should have gone into the semis with Plan B and Plan C as well. When one thing doesn’t work for you, you immediately switch to the other plan…but that wasn’t the case with the Indian team.”

mentioned Panesar speaking to Timesofindia.com in an unique interview.

While in-kind Kohli has scored the most runs at this World Cup, scoring 296 runs in six matches at an astonishing average of 98.67, other big names like captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Dinesh Karthik have had disappointing performances.

Suryakumar has scored 239 runs in six matches, a mean of 59.75, to rank second in the group.

Except for his defeats against Bangladesh (50) and Zimbabwe (51), Rahul failed to score double digits in the remaining games. He scored four against Pakistan, nine against the Netherlands, nine against South Africa, and five against England in the semifinal. Panesar is of the opinion that India placed an excessive amount of reliance on Kohli and Suryakumar, and that this “over-reliance” ultimately proved to be costly for the country.

“Over-reliance on Virat and Suryakumar cost India the World Cup. India were heavily dependent on Virat and Surya. They have been in really good touch and scored heavily for India. But what about other batsmen? KL Rahul scored against small teams. India needed big scores from him against big teams, but he failed. India needed a solid foundation from the openers. (Absence of) That hurt India the most. Virat and Surya can’t score in every match. Someone else needs to join them. India need good openers. India opted for KL Rahul because they didn’t have any choice,”

Panesar, who performed 50 Tests, 26 ODIs and 1 T20I for England between 2006 and 2013, mentioned.

WHY DIDN’T HARSHAL PATEL AND YUZVENDRA CHAHAL PLAY?

Panesar also questioned India’s playing lineup, which included replacing Dinesh Karthik with Rishabh Pant and favouring left-arm spinner Axar Patel and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin over Yuzvendra Chahal’s leg-spin.

Axar could only manage three wickets in five matches, while Ashwin claimed six wickets in six matches at a financial cost of 8.15.Ashwin was hammered for 27 runs in two overs in the final match. Chahal was not used at all during the T20 World Cup. Additionally, Harshal Patel was observed warming the bench.

“Chahal is a far better bowler than Ashwin. Why did India stick with Ashwin when Chahal was also there? Chahal has variations; and if he doesn’t take wickets, he will tighten the noose around the batsmen and can control the flow of runs…Harshal was another option India should have gone with. He is a swing bowler and can bat too. Why didn’t India use these two? I am amazed. When you have (such) players, then why not use them,”

Panesar mentioned.

The 2023 ODI World Cup will likely be hosted by India, and Panesar is assured that Rohit’s group will put up a stupendous present in the 50-over showpiece occasion.

“India in India are super strong. The 2011 World Cup was in India and (MS) Dhoni took them to the title. India were dominant in the tournament. We have seen how dominating India can be at home. Rohit will surely put that trophy in India’s cabinet. The 2023 World Cup belongs to India,”

The Indian team’s participation in the 2022 T20 World Cup came to an end with a 10-wicket defeat against England in the second semi-final at the Adelaide Oval. The defeat has raised numerous concerns about the Indian team’s current situation, such as Rohit Sharma’s batsmanship or specific player selection decisions. In the T20 World Cup, Team India participated in six matches and won four of them. Arshdeep Singh could be considered the team’s best pacer, while Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav were unquestionably among the best batters.

Here, we examine Team India’s successes and failures during the main competition

KL Rahul: 3/10 (Very Poor)

Matches – 6, Runs – 128

KL Rahul had a forgettable Australian campaign, scoring only two half-centuries and four single-digit scores. As the team returns home, his position at the top of the batting order will undoubtedly be questioned. In the powerplay, Rahul’s strike rate and intent are from an earlier era.India needs to take a more upbeat approach at the top of the order, and perhaps it’s time to look beyond KL Rahul, the opener.

Rohit Sharma: 3/10 (Very Poor)

Matches – 6, Runs – 116

Rohit Sharma failed to make an impression in his first ICC event as captain of the Indian team or as a batter. The man who has consistently performed exceptionally well in ICC competitions only managed to score one century throughout the entire tournament. It wouldn’t come as a surprise if he didn’t play for India in the T20 World Cup in 2024.

Virat Kohli: 8/10 (Very Good)

Matches – 6, Runs – 296

The man will arrive at the appointed time! With his outstanding performance at the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli put the doubts about his form to rest.In six matches, he scored a total of four half-centuries and won multiple matches. Kohli’s only criticism of himself would probably be his inconsistent start times in a few games.

Suryakumar Yadav: 9/10 (Very Good)

Matches – 6, Runs – 239

Suryakumar Yadav is currently referred to as the “best T20 batter in the Indian team,” and his performances helped India win two T20 World Cup matches. The team lost the match against England because they were so dependent on his runs. In a format as volatile as Twenty20 cricket, it is unfair to demand consistency. However, if Suryakumar is to become the team’s primary batsman, he will need to produce the goods more frequently than he is currently doing in big matches and against tougher opponents.

Hardik Pandya: 7/10 (Good)

Matches – 6, Runs – 128, Wickets – 8

After a few subpar performances throughout the tournament, Hardik, the batter, really came into his own in the semi-final against England, scoring a 63-ball score. However, Hardik consistently delivered with the ball. He actually took the second most wickets for India during the tournament.

Dinesh Karthik: 0/10 (Very Poor)

Matches – 4, Runs – 14

The wicket-keeper batter, who was brought into the team to play a special “finisher’s role,” didn’t look like the man who had lit up the Indian Premier League for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Karthik left a lot to be desired and was dropped in the final two matches deservedly, scoring just 14 runs in four matches (three innings).

Rishabh Pant

Matches – 2, Runs 9

Pant made his debut for the team against Zimbabwe, but he didn’t make the most of it and left early. He was pursued with persistence against England, but he arrived too late. In the end, he gave up his wicket in favour of Hardik Pandya, who appeared to be in superb form at the time.

Ravichandran Ashwin: 5/10 (Average)

Matches – 6, Runs – 21, Wickets – 6

R Ashwin struck the winning runs in the opening match against Pakistan while maintaining his composure, which impressed everyone. However, he didn’t do his primary job well. When India needed a breakthrough, Ashwin struggled to do so. Even though he ended up taking the third most wickets for India, the majority of his dismissals came when the team was least in need of them.

Axar Patel: 3/10 (Poor)

Matches: 5, Runs – 9, Wickets – 3

When Axar had the chance to bat against Pakistan and Bangladesh, he didn’t do much. He only took wickets as a bowler against Zimbabwe and Netherlands (2). Axar was far from what he needed to be to be the ideal replacement for the injured Ravindra Jadeja, and he couldn’t make an impact against big teams.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 4/10 (Below Average)

Matches 6, Wickets – 4

Another average performance from one of the most skilled white-ball bowlers in India. Bhuvneshwar Kumar could marshal up 4 wickets in the whole mission. The fact that Bhuvi was fairly economical in the majority of matches was the only thing that saved him. However, he was extremely costly when he faced England.

Mohammed Shami: 5/10 (Average)

Matches – 6, Wickets – 6

Mohammed Shami, who was brought into the Indian team to take the place of Jasprit Bumrah, failed to live up to the expectations. Although there were a few wickets taken, he did not have the impact the team wanted from a marquee pacer like him.He was destroyed by England, allowing 39 runs in three overs.

Arshdeep Singh: 7/10 (Good)

Arshdeep, who has been dubbed India’s “find of the tournament,” demonstrated that he is prepared to play a significant role for the Indian team in T20Is. Arshdeep was India’s highest wicket-taker, taking 10 in six matches. He did occasionally give in to pressure, which is understandable given his youth and lack of experience.

India’s T20 squad will undergo a major transition in the next 24 months because senior players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin will be gradually eased out, BCCI sources said on Thursday. While it appears that Ashwin and Dinesh Karthik have played their last games in the shortest format, the BCCI will leave it on Kohli and Rohit to decide on their T20I future. After team’s humiliating defeat in the T20 World Cup semifinal. A visibly upset Rohit was consoled by head coach Rahul Dravid, who fronted the media after the match.

The next T20 World Cup is still two years away and if those privy to developments are to be believed. There will be a brand new team in place with Hardik Pandya being the long-term captaincy choice. “The BCCI never asks anyone to retire. It is an individual decision. But yes, with just a handful of T20Is scheduled in 2023, most of the seniors will concentrate on ODIs and Test matches in that cycle,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

We expect a drastic change in upcoming months for the betterment for the Indian Cricket Team

“You don’t need to announce retirement if you don’t want to. You will not see most of the seniors playing T20 next year,” the source added. However, Dravid said it’s too early to talk about transition when PTI asked him about future of senior players like Kohli and Rohit. “It’s too early to talk about it right now just after a semi-final game. These guys have been terrific performers for us. Like you said, we have a couple of years to reflect on it,” Dravid said.

While some of the players have been contemporary greats of the game. Dravid doesn’t want anyone to write them off in haste. “There are some really good quality players here, so absolutely not the right time to talk about this stuff or think about this stuff right now. “We’ll have enough games, enough matches as we go on ahead, and India will try and build and prepare for the next World Cup,” the head coach added. It is understood that for the next one year. The T20Is will take a back seat as India play at least 25 ODIs. Going into next year’s 50-over World Cup at home.
