Talented Australia and Melbourne Renegades fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck has been ruled out of the upcoming season of WBBL for the third consecutive season after the shoulder dislocation she sustained in the T20 World Cup 2024. Vlaeminck, however, dislocated her bowling shoulder soon after she came into Australia's World Cup match against Pakistan which was her first match at a major tournament since 2018 as well.

Tayla Vlaeminck has not played in the WBBL since November 2021

However, with this, she was subsequently ruled out of the ongoing World Cup and Melbourne Renegades confirmed this on Friday that she would play no part in the WBBL that starts next Sunday as well.

However, Tayla Vlaeminck has not played in the WBBL since November 2021 when she was playing for another franchise, Hobart Hurricanes. She then signed with Renegades ahead of the 2022-23 season but has not featured in a single game due to an extraordinary run of injuries as well.

Notably, Vlaeminck has twice dislocated her left shoulder. The first one came playing for Victoria in the 2017-18 season and then, during the Australia A tour of England which played at the same time as last year's Women's Ashes as well, where she dislocated the same shoulder again while bowling, which led to corrective surgery too.

WBBL will start on October 27

However, before she made her debut for Australia, in 2018, she had undergone two ACL reconstructions too. Stress fractures in her foot also forced her to miss the 2020 home T20 World Cup and the 2022 ODI World Cup as well, the Commonwealth Games later that year and the T20 World Cup 2023. Moreover, her foot injuries led her to spend time training with professional dancers at the Australian Ballet as part of her rehab work as well.

This year Women's Big Bash League will start with Adelaide Strikers Women taking on Brisbane Heat Women on October 27 in Adelaide Oval.

It was an important match for both teams, especially for Pakistan Women. Australia Women’s captain Alyssa Healy sent Pakistan Women to bat first.
