In a remarkable turn of events, Delhi Capitals halted Royal Challengers Bangalore’s unbeaten streak in the Women’s Premier League 2024, clinching a 25-run victory on Thursday. Led by Captain Smriti Mandhana’s inaugural WPL fifty, Delhi Capitals set a formidable target of 194 runs, leaving RCB short in the chase during the seventh match of the tournament.

Powered by the youthful duo of Shafali Verma and Alice Capsey, Delhi Capitals reached their season’s highest total, despite being compelled to bat first at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. While Mandhana’s aggressive 32-ball fifty initially put RCB on the back foot, a collapse in the middle order led to their first defeat of the season.

The victory propelled Delhi Capitals to the summit of the points table with two wins in three matches, while Bangalore’s undefeated streak was halted, pushing them to second place. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians were relegated to the third position after the thrilling encounter.
