Yuzvendra Chahal was introduced into the attack in the 7th over and broke the opening partnership after RCB skipper holed out to long on. Eventually, RCB lost track of the chase after losing three critical wickets in the span of two overs- Opener Rawat got caught behind for 26 off Navdeep Saini’s bowling. Later in the 9th over, Virat Kohli was run-out for 5. Chahal stunned David Willey who struggled to scalp his second wicket. RCB scored 15 runs off the 12th over after Shahbaz Ahmed hit two sixes and a four.

Dinesh Karthik changed the course of the game with his excellent counter-attacking shots and the right-handed batter managed three fours and a solid six against Ashwin in the 14th  over.

The match turned tables and RCB gained its lead making RR bat cautiously, crediting to some fiery pace bowling from the RCB seamers. At the end of 6 overs they were standing at 35-1 with Padikkal and Buttler at the crease. Both of them put up a good six each as the fifty partnership was up for the second wicket. It only took a special catch from Virat Kohli to break the partnership and Padikkal was dismissed for 37. Hasaranga joined the streak and took a crucial wicket of Sanju Samson after the RR skipper was caught and bowled in the 12th over.

After intensive 16-overs, RR were 107-3 before Hetmyer struck a maximum and added to fours to the total. Jos Buttler reached his half-century in the penultimate over by hitting consecutive sixes against Siraj and RR hammered 23 runs off the final over proceeding Buttler’s 2 sixes as Hetmyer smacked the final delivery for a six and RR concluded their innings with a total 169-3.

DK drives Royal Challengers across the line with solid support from Shahbaz Ahmed, leading RR to their first defeat of this year’s IPL. Although RCB were apparently in all sorts of strife at 88 for 5 after 13 overs, requiring 82 from 42- but Karthik took 19 off R Ashwin’s fourth over costing 21 in all and the momentum flipped in a sudden turn of events.

The tables really did turn towards the end and RR were unable to protect a middling total, underpinned by an unbeaten 70 off 47 balls from orange cap-wearer Jos Buttler.

Quoting RR captain Sanju Samson– “I can’t pinpoint a moment [when the game was lost], great effort to put in that total, after losing the toss. Think it was a respectable score, but when the dew is coming up.”

Dinesh Karthik [44*(23)] emerged as the man of the match as RCB won by 4 wickets with 5 balls remaining.

It was an intense match for both parties as well as the fans and how the turntables worked!  Everyone sits in anticipation now for the next game, we can all just stay tuned for what comes next!
