The 63rd match of the Indian Premier League 2023 was played between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. Mumbai Indians, the visiting team won the toss and chose to field first. Lucknow Super Giants’ openers Deepak Hooda and Quinton de Kock came to bat but could not score big and were dismissed for 5 runs and 16 runs respectively. One down batter Prerak Mankad who impressed everyone in the last game got out for a duck tonight. But, the tables turned when Lucknow Super Giants skippers Krunal Pandya and Marcus Stoinis started hitting big. Marcus Stoinis was hitting crazy in this match. He scored 89 not out with the help of 8 maximums and 4 boundaries.
In the second innings, Ishan Kishan (59 runs) and Rohit Sharma (37 runs) gave a good start to Mumbai Indians and did their job well. However, the middle-order, except Tim David failed to perform in the match, which eventually turned out to be the reason for Mumbai’s defeat in the game.
Fans’ favorite Suryakumar Yadav could not perform tonight as he got out on a decent delivery by Yash Thakur for just 7 runs. Suryakumar Yadav was trying to scoop the ball, which was outside off-stump. While playing the shot, instead of hitting the ball over the wicket-keeper’s head, the ball got dragged into the stumps instead and SKY lost his wicket.
