India have named KL Rahul as the captain for the ODIs against Zimbabwe after the BCCI medical team cleared him to play in the series starting on 18 August.
Kannaur Lokesh Rahul is an Indian cricketer who currently is the vice-captain of the India national team in all formats. He plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket. He is the current captain of Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League.
KL Rahul has received the green signal from BCCI's medical team, clearing his participation in the forthcoming three-ODI tour of Zimbabwe
Rahul last played for India in February against the West Indies after leading the team in South Africa in the second Test match and then the entire ODI leg.
Rahul, who has not played international cricket since February this year, has been laid low by a series of injury and health concerns. Right after the IPL, he was scheduled to captain India in the home T20Is against South Africa but missed out owing to a groin injury.
He was scheduled to return at the just-concluded tour of West Indies and USA but following a positive Covid-19 result, the BCCI medical team advised him rest. He has already been named in India's squad for the Asia Cup at the end of this month.
