In recent times, India has dominated, winning each of the last four Test series against Australia. The World Test Championship, in which India and Australia will face off starting on June 7 at The Oval, now takes precedence over the Indian Premier League. India plans to come out on top for the title and guarantee the wonderful mace.
Spinners played a major role in the previous Test series between India and Australia. Despite the Australian team’s newcomers’ strong fight, India prevailed 2-1. Todd Murphy, who made his professional debut in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and took 14 wickets at an average of 25.21, was one of them.
Murphy needs to add R Ashwin’s ‘carrom ball’ to his bowling collection yet concedes he is a long way from dominating it as Ashwin does. He acknowledges the difficulties associated with executing the delivery and the various issues it presents for batsmen.
Murphy is analysing Ashwin’s technique and closely observing his hand and wrist position during the ball release with video technology. He appreciates having access to such analysis and Ashwin’s subtle variations and sequencing in spin-friendly conditions during his overs.
Murphy accepts that having solid essentials and a dependable stock ball are significant in Test cricket, and he is ceaselessly dealing with working on his abilities while searching for ways of adding new components to his bowling weapons store.
