Bangladesh has consistently struggled at ICC tournaments in recent years. Although they had some memorbale tournament stints, their performance in recent years has dipped. Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain the team during the next tournament. They will compete in Group D of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Their group includes a competitive South Africa, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and the Netherlands.

In the first round, only two players from each group will advance. Bangladesh, on the other hand, has several exceptional players who have competed on a global scale. Here, we discuss the three Bangladeshi players under the impact radar for the side in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

1. Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib Al Hasan is Bangladesh’s premier all-rounder. The left-arm spinner is one of the best all-rounders to play in all forms. Shakib remains the highest wicket-taker in T20 World Cups, and he hopes to become the first bowler to reach 50 scalps.

He is the second-leading wicket-taker in T20Is (mostly among spinners). He is the fifth-highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket. Shakib is still an essential part of Bangladesh’s middle order. In his lengthy and illustrious 122 T20I outings, he has scored 2440 runs and taken 146 wickets, making him the second-highest wicket-taker in the game’s shortest format.

2. Najmul Hossain Shanto

Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain his country for the first time in an ICC competition. As a result, he will be burdened with several tasks. He has been a reliable batsman for his side, and as captain, one should anticipate him to hit plenty of runs in World Cup matches.

With the ambition and enthusiasm to lead the Bangla Tigers squad, he is undoubtedly one of the Bangladesh players to watch. His T20I total is 796 runs in 39 matches, with a respectable average of 25.

3. M Mahmudullah

M Mahmudullah is among the few players who competed in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 and will play again this year. The 38-year-old has much experience performing on large stages. He scored the most runs for his side in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Mahmudullah is an excellent batsman on slow surfaces and an effective off-spinner.

With experience, technique, and desire, it is unsurprising that he will make an impression on his country throughout this tournament. In 131 T20I appearances, he scored 2299 runs at a strike rate of 120 and took 39 wickets with an economy of 7.13.
