The Indian cricket team has been scheduled for five full-time training sessions in Nagpur by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). On February 2, Rohit Sharma and co. will gather in Nagpur for five consecutive days of training for the hosts. However, the BCCI has made special arrangements for the Men in Blue to play at the old VCA Ground, so only two of those sessions will be held at the first test venue for India vs. Australia.
“Rohit and Test players will assemble in Nagpur before the series. They will have a camp under Rahul in Nagpur. He will join the team after finishing the T20 series against NewZealand. It’s a fitness camp but before playing a Test series, it will serve as a good opportunity to practice with red ball,”
a senior BCCI official told sources.
Before the first test between India and Australia in Nagpur, Team India will have five days of full training. After five years, the Border Gavaskar Trophy will begin with a Test match at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. Despite the fact that Rohit Sharma and co. are scheduled to meet in Nagpur on February 2, not all of their sessions will take place there.
The BCCI is said to have made special arrangements for the Indian team to play at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground, according to reports. The stadium, a former international venue, hosts Central Zone games. The venue also hosts Vidarbha and Uttar Pradesh on occasion. Nine Tests have been held there, the last one in 2006
The Civil Lines Ground is well-maintained despite the absence of international cricket. Before traveling to the brand-new Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Rohit Sharma and co. will engage in a red ball grind under the direction of Rahul Dravid. Before the Test match, the Men in Blue will also have two more practice sessions at the centre wicket.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohammad Shami, and Mohammed Siraj will take a week off after the ODI series is over. After returning home, they will meet up in Mumbai before traveling to Nagpur. On February 2, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja will join the team. Jadeja has a fitness test scheduled for February 1, and Kl Rahul returns from leave in time for his wedding.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy four-match Test series is also part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23. India suffers greatly from Jasprit Bumrah’s absence from the series, which it needs to win 2-0 or 3-1 to advance to the WTC Final in June. On February 9, the series’ first Test takes place in Nagpur. The final two tests are planned for the first two weeks of March.
