On Monday, veteran Indian batsman Murali Vijay announced his retirement from all international cricket.
The 38-year-old had played in 61 Tests, 17 ODIs, and 9 T20Is for India. In the game’s longest format, he scored 3982 runs, including 12 hundreds and 15 half-centuries. He also scored 339 runs in ODIs and 169 runs in T20Is, respectively.

Murali posted a lengthy, sincere note on his social media accounts on Wednesday, in which he thanked everyone who had supported him throughout his international cricket career, beginning with his debut against Australia in 2008.
Vijay last represented India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2018 in the Perth Test. Even though it was India’s first victory in a Test series in Australia, the Tamil Nadu batter had a rough time. Vijay only managed to score 49 runs, averaging 12.25 over four innings.
Vijay made his last white-ball appearance was during India’s tour of Zimbabwe in 2015
The right-handed batter has also played a lot of cricket in the Indian Premier League, playing for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), and Chennai Super Kings. He has scored 2619 runs, including 2 tons and 13 fifties, in more than 100 league games.
