On March 7, Thursday, Kuldeep Yadav marked his comeback to Dharamsala, a venue where he’s found success before, with a remarkable performance in the fifth Test between India and England. Not only did he reach the milestone of 50 Test wickets, but he also secured his fourth five-wicket haul in Test cricket by dismissing England’s captain, Ben Stokes.

Returning to the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association ground where he made his debut against Australia in 2017, Kuldeep showcased his prowess once again. Just like in his debut match, he dismantled the English batting lineup with finesse.

England, choosing to bat first after winning the toss, had a solid start with openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett. However, Kuldeep’s entry into the attack brought about a swift change in momentum. He first claimed Duckett’s wicket, thanks in part to a fantastic catch by Shubman Gill. Subsequently, Ollie Pope fell victim to Kuldeep’s guile, being stumped just before lunch.

Kuldeep’s magical delivery then dismissed Crawley, marking his fourth wicket of the day and his 50th Test wicket overall. Even Jonny Bairstow’s fireworks were short-lived as he became Kuldeep’s next victim, caught behind by Dhruv Jurel.

Ravindra Jadeja joined in the action by dismissing Joe Root, but it was Kuldeep who struck once again by trapping Stokes in front of the stumps. Despite England’s promising start, they found themselves struggling at 175 for six, courtesy of Kuldeep’s brilliance and India’s collective effort.
