PAK’s reminder to Stokes On Handshake Offer

Monday’s second Test in Multan saw England defeat Pakistan by a hard-fought 26 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. In Pakistan’s pursuit of 355 runs in the fourth innings, Mark Wood posted figures of 4 for 65 as the team was run out for 328. In the second session of Day 4, Pakistan had only needed 65 runs to win with five wickets remaining, but England’s turnaround cost them the match and the trophy.

Mohammad Ali was bowled out of the match, which was an adrenaline rush. However, the conclusion had some drama as did the entire game.

Ollie Pope, the wicketkeeper, was hit by Mohammad Ali’s edge of the ball from Ollie Robinson. Marais Erasmus, the umpire, raised his finger in response to the England players’ request for the wicket, but he took some time to make his decision. Despite the obvious advantage, Ali decided to conduct a review.

Ben Stokes walked up to Ali to shake his hand after the decision was referred upstairs because he was aware that the fight had ended. However, Ali refused to shake the England captain’s hand, appearing to remind him that the formality had not yet been completed as the third umpire had not yet rendered his verdict.

England and Pakistan face each other in the third and last ODI, beginning December 17 at the Public Arena, Karachi.

Pakistan fell to sixth place in the series after their second defeat, while England rose to fifth place thanks to their strong run under Ben Stokes. India continues to be ranked fourth, following Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Australia.
