Samiullah Dar, an accomplished fast bowler hailing from Kashmir, has been brought in as a net bowler by the England team for the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. England’s campaign in the World Cup has encountered a rocky start, compounded by the recent loss of Reece Topley, a key pacer, to a finger injury.
Reece Topley’s World Cup journey came to an unfortunate halt after he sustained a fracture in his left-hand index finger while attempting to field a ball during a match in Mumbai. He had to leave the field after delivering 8.5 overs as England faced a defeat at the hands of South Africa.
In light of Topley’s injury, Brydon Carse was named as his replacement. However, reports suggest that the England camp has also called upon the services of the talented fast bowler, Samiullah Dar, who hails from Kashmir.

According to information from the Tehelka website, Dar originates from Srinagar. His association with the English team began in Delhi, where he trained alongside the squad before accompanying them to Mumbai. His next destination is Bangalore, where the team is gearing up for an upcoming match.
Dar had previously served as a net bowler for the KKR franchise during the IPL 2023 season. Despite his remarkable abilities as a right-arm fast bowler, he is yet to secure a spot in the Jammu and Kashmir state squad.
South Africa achieved an impressive score of 399/7 during their 50 overs. Henrich Klaasen notched up a century, while Marco Jansen contributed an impressive unbeaten 75*, forming a remarkable partnership that added over 150 runs for the seventh wicket. In response, England’s innings crumbled to a mere 100/8 before Mark Wood’s resilient 43* managed to push their final score to 170. Nevertheless, England suffered a crushing defeat to South Africa, marking their largest-ever loss in World Cup history. With this loss, England’s point tally in the CWC 2023 stands at 2 points after 4 matches, leaving them in the 9th position on the points table.
Looking ahead, England’s next match is against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru on October 26, followed by a challenging encounter against the undefeated Indian team in Lucknow on Sunday, October 29.
