In the latest update from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), it has been confirmed that Star India’s talented batter, Shubman Gill, will be sidelined for the upcoming match against Afghanistan. While the rest of the Indian cricket team is gearing up to depart for Delhi today, Gill is set to remain in Chennai under the care of the medical team. The crucial fixture is scheduled to take place on the 11th of October at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Gill’s absence is a result of ongoing health issues that have plagued him recently. He had also missed India’s inaugural match in the 2023 World Cup due to the same health concerns. India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, shared the unfortunate news after the coin toss, explaining, “Unfortunately, he (Shubman Gill) didn’t recover in time, we waited until this morning, and he couldn’t recover.” This setback has prompted a change in the team’s lineup, with Ishan Kishan being called in to replace Gill and fill the opening batter position.
