The 24th match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is currently taking place between Australia vs Namibia at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound in Antigua on Jun 11, 08:30 PM local. Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first. Adam Zampa claimed a four-fer and restricted the opponent to a below-par total.

Put into bat first, Namibia had the worst possible start. Namibia opener Nikolaas Davin got out for a mere 2 runs. Jan Frylinck also got out for 1 run and they were reduced to 15 for 3 within the powerplay. Gerhard Erasmus tried to steady the ship in the middle.

However, after the initial trouble made by Hazlewood for Namibia, it was Adam Zampa who bowled brilliantly in the middle overs. He claimed four wickets in his allotted 4 overs, giving away only 12 runs as well. Along with him, Marcus Stoinis too bowled well. He gave away only 9 runs in his 3 overs and picked up 2 wickets as well.

However, Adam Zampa became the first Australian bowler to take 100 T20 international wickets as well. On the other hand, the Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus waited a long while before getting off the mark as well. He made an unwanted record as he faced 16 balls before scoring a single run which is the most in men’s T20Is as well.

Their onslaught didn’t let Namibia players settle down in the middle. Namibia could only manage 72 runs before getting all out in 17 overs as well. However, this is the lowest total against Australia as well.

Josh Hazlewood said after the 1st innings: “I think the wicket was pretty good, it started to spin quite a bit. A good all-round effort from the boys. It’s huge, we have 15 players to pick from, few of the games are back to back, game-time into a few guys might be crucial. Adapting to different conditions around the world is key and Zamps is a crucial cog in that wheel.”
