West Indies innings: Charles and Russell shine
The match at Providence Stadium saw West Indies win the toss and opt to bat first on a slow deck. The West Indies faced a challenging start, with Uganda’s bowlers keeping things tight. Johnson Charles anchored the innings, scoring a steady 44 off 42 balls, while Nicholas Pooran provided some fireworks before being dismissed by Uganda’s skipper Brian Masaba.
The middle order struggled to maintain momentum until Andre Russell’s late blitz. Russell’s power hitting in the final overs, including four boundaries in the last over, propelled West Indies to a competitive total of 173 for 5 in their 20 overs.

In the nets and in the previous series, I felt like the ball was coming out of my hand good. I think I was doing everything right in the nets but I just wasn’t getting the rewards. Just have to stay calm and it’ll be my turn soon. (Favourite wicket) I think I’ll go with the regular finger spinner one, that was my favourite. It’s a lot of hard work (to perform at this level), especially when you start getting success.”
West Indies’ comprehensive victory over Uganda showcased their dominance in both batting and bowling. Hosein’s incredible spell underlined his importance to the team.
