The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has announced free entry for spectators to the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai for the upcoming one-off Test between the Indian women’s team and South Africa. This move aims to boost the popularity of women’s cricket in India and encourage fans to come out in large numbers to support their teams.

Match Details

The one-off Test will begin on June 28 and will be held at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium. Following this, the Indian women’s team will face South Africa in a three-match T20I series starting on July 5.

The significance of free entry

The TNCA’s decision to offer free entry is a significant step towards promoting women’s cricket. By making the game more accessible to fans, they hope to draw larger crowds and generate more interest in women’s cricket. This initiative aligns with the BCCI’s broader efforts to enhance the visibility and popularity of the women’s game in India.

TNCA’s Statement on free entry

In their statement, the TNCA mentioned that the C, D, and E lower stands will be available for free entry. If these stands reach full capacity, the I, K, and K lower stands will also be opened to accommodate more fans. This initiative is part of a broader effort to bring more spectators to women’s cricket matches.

Indian Women’s team performance in the ODI series

The Indian women’s team displayed an outstanding performance in the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa. They won all three matches convincingly, showcasing their dominance and skill. Smriti Mandhana emerged as the star performer, scoring two centuries and a brilliant 90 in the third match.

The Upcoming T20I Series

After the Test match, the focus will shift to the T20I series. The three matches will also be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Unlike the Test match, tickets for the T20I series will be priced at INR 150 each. Fans can purchase tickets online or at the stadium.
