MS Dhoni has achieved every record as a skipper, batter, and wicketkeeper. The former India skipper won three ICC events as India skipper in the limited overs format, five IPL titles as CSK skipper, leading India to the number 1 test rankings and winning Champions League titles as CSK skipper.

The 42-year-old is also known for his funny sense of humour as his one-liners are sometimes recorded in the stump mic. The former India skipper might have already played the last game of his cricket career on May 18, 2024, when Chennai Super Kings lost to RCB by 27 runs to make it to the Playoffs. While Dhoni’s multiple innings with the bat will always be remembered by his fans, his presence behind the wickets will also be missed. We take a look at five unforgettable stump mic moments of MS Dhoni:

1 “Pujara Taali Bajaa Ne Ke Liye Nahi Hai”

When India toured New Zealand in 2014, during the Wellington Test Brendon McCullum and BJ Watling built a huge partnership. Ravindra Jadeja wasn’t looking in the best of forms.

The skipper told him, “ispe ek ghumega toh Pujara ko usi ke liye rakha hai, woh udhar taali baja ne ke liye nahi hai”. That means if the ball spins I have placed Cheteshwar Pujara at slips to do the catching. He is not placed for clapping.

2 MS Dhoni gets angry at Manish Pandey

The former skipper is known for his calm temperament and hardly gets angry on the field but during one such instance Dhoni got angry at Manish Pandey during a T20I match at Centurion against South Africa in 2018.

In the final over while batting MS Dhoni wanted to complete a double while Pandey was looking at the ball and wasn’t looking at his partner. Dhoni got angry saying, “oye bh******, idhar dekhle udhar dekh raha hai, apna ho gaya bas”. On hearing this, fans were in splits.

3 MS Dhoni trolling Kevin Pietersen

This incident is one of the wittiest where MS Dhoni highlighted that his sense of humour is second to none. Manoj Tiwary who was playing for Rising Pune Supergiants was talking to Kevin Pietersen who was commentating.

Pietersen told Tiwary, “Manoj tell MS that I am a better Golfer than him”, taking a dig at the skipper. MS Dhoni replied in his style saying, “He is my first test wicket!”. The reply made everyone laugh in the commentary box, while an embarrassed Pietersen said, “It was a referral, it was a referral”.

4 “Ab Hindi main nahi bol sakta hun”

During one of the matches between RCB and CSK in 2021, MS Dhoni exchanged these words with Ravindra Jadeja. The left-arm off-spinner had got rid of AB De Villiers and Glenn Maxwell after Dhoni had given instructions in Hindi.

New batter Harshal Patel arrived at the crease after which the skipper told Jadeja that he wouldn’t give instructions in Hindi as Harshal would understand. Dhoni said, “Ab Hindi main nahi bol sakta hun”, the skipper’s witty reply made the commentators and Jadeja laugh.

5 “Oye Sree Udhar Girlfriend Nahi Hai, Idhar Aaja Thoda”

During a test match against New Zealand at home, the skipper once again showcased his funny sense of humour when Sreesanth looked sloppy on the field after which Dhoni taunted the pacer saying, “Oye shree udhar girlfriend nahi hai idhar aaja thoda”.
