Indian Premier League 2022, Match 57: Lucknow Super Giants went up against Gujarat Titans at MCA Stadium in Pune. GT’s openers were Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha. LSG’s Mohsin Khan had the ball. LSG’s Mohsin Khan takes the field first. With a single to third base, Saha missed the target. Shubman also missed the target with a single to third base, where Karan Sharma fails to reach the proper position for a catch. Lucknow was in trouble after losing both de Kock and Rahul in the first five overs. Lucknow didn’t get off to the best possible start in the pursuit. De Kock was dismissed by Dayal, while Rahul was dismissed by Shami. We had Chameera in the attack by the seventh over. Shubman collects a boundary with five runs from the over. In the powerplay, GT scores 35/2, its lowest powerplay score in the IPL. In the following over, Krunal goes on the offensive, and we get our first look of Krunal against Hardik in this match. Hardik snags a single from Krunal’s ball and paddles towards the short fine leg. The over is four.
Mohsin returned to the attack following the timeout in the 15th over. The over yields five runs. In the next over, Avesh Khan returns to the attack. As five runs come off the over, he maintains things neat. GT gets to its team 100 right away in the next round, and they do so in style. Miller knocks a six over extra-cover in the 16th over, the first maximum of the innings. Miller and Gill have been together for almost 50 years. However, guess what? The stand is broken as Miller is caught by Badoni on the penultimate ball of the over. Avesh completes his tenure with the penultimate over. Hooda drops Tewatia at short third man, which might prove expensive. Tewatia collects a boundary for six off the over. Shubman Gill’s 63 runs have guided Gujarat Titans to a score of 144/4. There’s a review for LBW against Tewatia after they were originally awarded not out, but the wickets are still up to the umpire. GT scored 144/4, while LSG required 145 runs to win.
As LSG’s pursuit begins, Mohammed Shami goes on the offensive. The chase was kicked off by De Kock and KL Rahul. In the second over, Hardik has the ball. Rahul ends the over with a boundary, smashing the ball over the slip fielder. After seven overs, Yash Dayal takes the wicket of Karan Sharma, who is caught at short third man by Miller. The new batter is Mohsin Khan. After 13 overs, Sai Kishore delivers the following over and takes another wicket as Mohsin Khan leaves with LSG at 70/8. With everyone on the verge of a nervous breakdown, Gujarat Titans put up a dominant performance, with Rashid Khan doing most of the damage with the ball and Saha putting in a strong performance behind the stumps. Gujarat Titans defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 62 runs to go to the IPL 2022 playoffs for the first time. The Player of the Match is Shubman Gill.
