Suryakumar Yadav is the player who, after Virat Kohli, has been India’s T20 World Cup hero. The middle-order batter for India has continued where he left off before the World Cup, exploding to the top of the charts and awe-inspiring everyone with his majestic hitting.
Suryakumar Yadav has scored 15, 51 not out, 68, 30, and an unbeaten 61 in five matches. The circumstances in which some of these knocks appeared add to their uniqueness. India were 49/5 against South Africa when Suryakumar played arguably his best innings, scoring 68 off 40 balls. Next, India had reached a stumbling block in the Zimbabwe match and were struggling to accelerate in the final overs before SKY launched himself and raised his team’s score to 186.
However, England’s coaching consultant for this World Cup, former Australia batsman Michael Hussey, wants the India batter to have a bad day against his team. Hussey enjoys Surya’s appearances and admits that he enjoys watching the India batsman play, but he expects Suryakumar’s bat to remain quiet at the Adelaide Oval.
“He’s been sensational and has been doing it for a number of years in the IPL. And now to do it consistently at the highest level, it’s great to watch. Personally, love watching him bat. Obviously, I hope he doesn’t get a big score against England on Thursday (laughs),”
Hussey told Sportstar.
India and England are meeting in a World Cup semi final for only the second time. Everyone knows how it ended in 1983, when it last happened. In the past few years, India and England have met in T20Is a number of times. In June, Rohit Sharma and co. won the series against the hosts. But all of that is history, and Hussey is looking forward to a great game between the two good teams.

“India are a fantastic team, and we knew that coming into the tournament. We have to be very close to our best to really challenge them and win the match. And maybe, it’ll just be one or two little things. Whether they go for us or they go against us could be the difference between winning and losing the match. It’s going to be a great spectacle – two fantastic teams and they’ll both be going as hard as they possibly can. It’s the World Cup semifinal, and that prize to make it to the final at the MCG is pretty motivating. So, it should be it should be a great contest.”
added Hussey.
