This has been Virat Kohli’s story for the past decade: one day, another record set. A historic milestone has been reached by the former India skipper who will be remembered as one of the “Greatest of All Time.” The former captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore has had a great start to 2023, the year of the ICC ODI World Cup. He is definitely looking for new accomplishments and will do everything in his power to add a few more runs to his total.
The 2022 T20 team was announced earlier today by the International Cricket Council (ICC), and Indian veteran Virat Kohli was dropped. Along with Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, the former captain of India has been selected for the T20 team of the year. Since the award was introduced last year, Virat has not been on the list before. Jos Buttler, the English captain who led his team to victory at the World Cup the previous year, has been appointed captain of the team.
Kohli has been named to the Test team of the year three times (in 2017 and 2018, respectively), the ODI team of the year six times (in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019), and the T20I team of the year for the first time (in 2022). The Indian captain has scored 74 international centuries, including one T20I century, 27 Test centuries, and 46 ODI centuries.

Kohli had not scored a century in international cricket for more than three years before scoring a magnificent century against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup last year. Kohli has scored three centuries in his last six one-day internationals, including one against Bangladesh, three against Sri Lanka, and two against New Zealand. On Tuesday, the Men’s Test Team of the Year, Women’s ODI Team of the Year, and Men’s ODI Team of the Year will be announced by the ICC.
