Mumbai Indians, the five-time IPL winners, finished bottom in IPL 2022, losing four games and winning just ten. Nothing appeared to be going well for Rohit Sharma’s team. The five-time winning arsenal’s department would have selected the players it would seek in the future auction before the start of a new season. In this piece, we look at three players that the Mumbai Indians might pursue in the IPL 2023.

Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes is one of the top all-rounders in the world, having previously played in the IPL. He formerly played in the IPL for the Rising Pune Super Giants and the Rajasthan Royals. The southpaw has played 43 games in the IPL, scoring 920 runs and taking 28 wickets.

Also, with Caribbean all-rounder Kieron Pollard retiring from the IPL, Ben Stokes might be an ideal fit for filling the position of Kieron Pollard’s all-around game.

Adil Rashid

After being dissatisfied with their achievements last season, the Mumbai Indians now lack  a robust leg-spinner

While their other two spinners, Kumar Kartikeya and Hrithik Shokeen, have been retained, both have less experience. Mumbai Indians boasted leg-spinner Rahul Chahar in their glory days, and before that, veteran Harbhajan Singh commanded the spin department.

They might now bring in someone like Adil Rashid to spearhead their spin attack, with Kartikeya and Shokeen as a backup. The leg-task spinner’s of restricting runs but also search for wickets will be critical on the batting-friendly Wankhede surfaces, where MI will now play half of their matches beginning next season.

Cameron Green

Cameron Green recently demonstrated his ability as an opener in a T20I series against India, right before the T20 World Cup. He has shown promise as an opener despite being a late addition to Australia’s T20 World Cup side.

This will be Green’s first IPL season, and many franchises are reportedly keeping a close eye on him to seal a deal with the budding prowess. He has represented Australia in all forms and has proven to be quite adaptable in his most recent stint as an opener. Green can, in fact, team up with Rohit Sharma as a fellow opener.
