Defending champions Gujarat Titans will face Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad on March 31, as the IPL 2023 returns to its home-and-away format for the first time since 2019. On May 28, the final will also be held in Ahmedabad.

The inaugural Women’s Premier League final will take place on March 26, five days before the start of the IPL, and all ten teams will compete on the opening weekend: Punjab Kings play Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday, the Titans play CSK on Saturday, and Lucknow Super Giants play Delhi Capitals on April 1; on Sunday (April 2), Royal Challengers Bangalore plays Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad plays Rajasthan Royals.

From March 31 to May 21, the league phase includes 70 matches in 12 cities

Some games will be held in Guwahati, which is the Royals’ second home, and Dharamsala, which is the Kings’ second home, in addition to the ten regular venues of Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Mohali.

The last time the IPL was played at all of India’s traditional venues was in 2019. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the tournament had to be moved to the United Arab Emirates in 2020 and moved from the March-May window to September-November.

A breach of the bio-secure bubble caused the season to be suspended midway through 2021, and the second half of the season was resumed in the United Arab Emirates in September. The tournament in 2022 took place in India between March and May. The entire league phase was held in Mumbai and Pune, while the playoffs and finals were held in Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

Under Hardik Pandya’s leadership, Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals in the final in Ahmedabad to win the IPL title in their first season.
