England started their three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka because the favourites and that they played like one within the first game. On Wednesday, Midsummer Eve at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, the Eoin Morgan-led Brits won by eight wickets with 17 balls left.
After their bowlers restricted the opponents to a modest score of 129 in 20 overs, Jos Buttler’s unbeaten fifty took them over the finish line . The second T20I on Thursday, Midsummer Day may be a must-win affair for the Lankans.
Barring Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga, none of the visitors’ players could keep the Three Lions in restraint . Though their bowlers tried their hearts out, it’s their batting that needs resurrection. Kusal Perera had a troublesome time within the Bangladesh ODIs and he’ll be looking to form amends within the next encounter.
The weather for the match is predicted to stay clear, although the weather in England is extremely unpredictable there are only a few chances of rain interrupting the sport. The temperature is going to be around 17°C with a pleasing wind blowing within the area.
The dig in Cardiff was an inexpensive one for batting because the England batters scored over 60 runs within the powerplay, though the Lankans struggled on an equivalent strip. Batting second should be the way forward.

Jason Roy– England
Jason Roy would be disappointed after he got bent Dushmantha Chameera within the last game. He was also involved in an 80-run to represent the opening wicket with Player of the Match Buttler. The right-hander would be looking to form his start count and obtain a match-winning knock under his belt.
Jos Buttler–– England
played a match-winning knock of 68 runs in 55 balls, he played safe and didn’t take many risks, he smashed 8 boundaries and a six in his innings. He also took 2 catches behind the stumps.
Liam Livingstone –– England
might be an excellent differential captaincy pick if England bats first, as he will get to play the new ball and can bowl a couple of overs also. He bowled 2 overs and took 1 wicket within the first game.
Wanindu Hasaranga– Sri Lanka
Wanindu Hasaranga has been a revelation for Sri Lanka in limited-overs cricket within the last one and half years. within the T20I format, he has shown his class mostly. within the first match, the Britain batters were circumspect while facing him.
Dasun Shanaka –– Sri Lanka
scored a half-century for his side which was heading towards their lowest ever T20 score but he saved them and helped them post a good total.
