On Tuesday, September 28 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Mumbai Indians will face Punjab Kings in Match No.42 of the 2021 Indian Premier League. The Kings, headed by KL Rahul, are coming off a five-run triumph against Mumbai Indians in their last game.
After defending a small total of 125 on a tough strip to bat on in Sharjah, their bowlers must be full of confidence. PBKS, although being fifth in the rankings, has little room for a mistake with four games remaining. MI, on the other hand, is in desperate need of some breathing room. Rohit Sharma and his teammates are now ranked sixth on the standings. Their confidence would have plummeted following their 54-run loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Punjab-based squad had previously trounced Rohit’s side by nine wickets with 14 balls remaining in their last encounter.

KL Rahul
With four half-centuries, KL Rahul is the leading run-scorer for PBSK in the present edition of the IPL. Against the Mumbai-based franchise, the Karnataka native had remarkable stats. In 13 innings, the kid has accumulated 640 runs at a 71.11 average. In 2019, he also scored a century against them at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
Jaspreet Bumrah.
In the ongoing T20 competition, Jaspreet Bumrah has been outstanding for MI. Mi got his side off to a strong start in his last game by getting rid of Devdutt Padikkal for a four-ball duck. The speedster had good stats against the Punjab-based squad. Bumrah had 17 wickets at an excellent economy rate of 6.31 in 48.4 overs against PBKS.
Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians, the defending champs, are currently in a lot of difficulties. Three straight losses in the second leg of the tournament have dropped them to seventh place in the standings, with only 8 points to their name. In the run chase against RCB, the hitters made reckless shots, resulting in a 54-run defeat. The form of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav is a source of concern for them.
Punjab Kings
The Punjab Kings kept their cool in their previous encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad, defending a low total and winning by just 5 runs. They have the same number of points as the Mumbai Indians, but they are in fifth place in the rankings due to a higher net run rate. The competition is wide open, with four clubs vying for the last berth, and this encounter will be pivotal in that regard.
The Mumbai Indians are currently struggling and are in the bottom part of the standings. The Punjab Kings won their last match by a razor-thin margin, and this will be one of the few instances when the Kings will enter the contest as the favorites. So we thought the kings would grab the win.
Today’s match prediction: Mumbai Indians to win the match.
