The current World Test Champions and World Cup Holder will be looking to complete a quest here. Winning the T20 World Cup will give Australia all three trophies together. They start the quest against Oman with Mitchell Marsh as captain. The tournament holds a lot of importance for Australia. David Warner calls time after this one. Steve Smith has already been phased out of the T20 side and quite a bit of the line-up is close to the end of their careers.
Date: June 3rd, 2024
Time: 6:00 AM IST
Venue: Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados
Rain is expected again but is not expected to last long.
Spin has been a better feature in this ground. The surface tends to be on the drier side and batting first will be a better choice.
David Warner, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Matthew Wade, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood
Kashyap Prajapati, Naseem Khushi, Aqib Ilyas, Zeeshan Maqsood, Pratik Athavale (wk), Ayaan Khan, Khalid Kail, Shakeel Ahmad, Rafiullah, Fayyaz Butt, Bilal Khan
Aqib Ilyas
Aqib Ilyas is an experienced top-order batter. His spin though could be the feature to watch out for with Barbados likely to take some turn.
Glenn Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell had a shocking IPL. He bowled alright but the batting returns were very poor. He has role to play for Australia and usually finds form in the big stage. Australia though will be hoping he gets some time in the middle as his form remains very important for their future in the tournament.
Australia walk in favorites for the upcoming game here.
