Indian Premier League 2022, Mumbai Indians defeat Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets at the DY Patil Stadium. Suryakumar Yadav scored a fighting fifty for MI, finally registering their first win of the IPL season. While chasing the 159-run target , Mumbai Indians lost Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan early. But both the players revised the status with an 81-run stand and in the end, Tim David played a handy Knock.
MI bowlers produced a good performance to restrict Rajasthan, RR at 158 for 6. Jos Buttler scored the highest with a 52-ball 67, including 5 four and 4 maximums. Ashwin had a fiery cameo as 21 runs off just 9 balls. MI had won the toss and opted to bowl first against Rajasthan Royals in match 44 of IPL 2022. They had two changes in their players as Tim David and Kumar Kartikeya replaced Dewald Brevis and Jaydev Unadakt.
Daniel Sams had opened Mumbai’s attack and he got just three singles in the opening over., giving least chances to RR batters to score. Devdutta Paddikkal began to open bid art and went after Daniel Sams. Three boundaries on a row to put visible pressure back on MI. Tim David hits another boundary.
MI stood at 26/1 after 4.3 overs, They moved down the line and smashed Shokeen for a maximum over laong on. Sanju ended the 7th over with yet another biggie, he definitely is off to roll. 13 over later and the umpire had called for a timeout and RR needed to regain their strategy as no boundary had been hit in the last 22 deliveries, even while Jos Buttler was here. RR stood at 87/2 after 13 overs.
A couple of sixes to Hrithik and Jos Butler brought up his fifty as it had been a couple of struggling innings for the Englishmen, he kept fighting and notched another half-century this season. Four sixes consecutively that was followed by dot and finally, Shokeen got his man. Butt;er whacked it over a long off. It took the bottom half of the bat and lobbed up in the air towards long off and the team stood at 126/4 after 16 overs.
13 runs came off Kuldeep over as MI marched towards their first win of the season. David collected a bit of boundaries in the last over, making things easy for Mumbai . A final over by Prasidh Krishna, 8 runs came off it but he didn’t get the liberty of defending a big run.
Kuldeep Sen bowloed the final over and it was a big task for him as he had to defend 4 runs from his six balls. Daniel Sams slammed a six to seal the game for Mumbai Indians. It was a sensational hit by Sams on the first ball as he was facing a tense situation.
Mumbai Indians finally opened their account on the point table. Kuldeep Sen tried hard by dismissing Pollard on the first ball but he did not have many runs to defend. Overall it was a good performance by RR and the contest was surely interesting.
