Rohit Sharma, India’s new limited-overs captain, said that Virat Kohli had put the team in a position where it can’t turn back. Whenever they were on the field together, Rohit said Kohli always led from the front and he looks forward to future matches with the 33-year-old.

For the duration of Kohli’s captaincy in limited-overs cricket, which began in January 2017 with MS Dhoni stepping down from the position, Rohit served as Kohli’s vice-captain. It is India’s second most successful ODI batting pair behind Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan, with 4906 runs scored in 84 matches at an average of 64.55. “He has put the team in a situation where there is no looking back,” Rohit said in a video uploaded on the official website of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). “Across those five years, he led the team from the front. There was grit and determination to win every game,” stated Rohit.

“It was a pleasure playing cricket with him. I enjoyed each and every moment and I still intend to play cricket with him in the future. “We need to keep improving as a team and as individuals, and that will be my focus, as well as the focus of the entire squad,” concluded Rohit.
