Bangladesh beat England in the T20I series by a historic score of 3-0 on Tuesday

The Shakib Al Hasan-drove side staggered the title holders, enrolling a 16-run dominate in the last match of the series as Britain neglected to pursue down a 159-run focus in Dhaka. After a 3-0 victory over the English team in 2014 under the leadership of George Bailey, this was England’s first T20I series defeat in nine years. In the shortest format of the game, this was Bangladesh’s first whitewash against a full member nation.

Wasim Jaffer, the batting consultant for the Bangladesh U19 team, sent a vicious tweet about former England captain Michael Vaughan following their crushing victory. Over the past few years, Jaffer and Vaughan had been tweeting jokes.

As a result, Bangladesh’s strong home performances in limited-overs formats have continued. In the lead-up to the T20 World Cup last year, the team had defeated Australia (4-1) and New Zealand (3-2) in the T20I series, as well as India 2-1 in the ODI series in December.

“We talked about showing character ahead of the series and that’s what we showed, We were put into a tough position but won the game. That’s the thing that will give us the confidence as we are building a team for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

” Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan said after their win over England.

On a slow Mirpur surface, opener Liton Das scored a career-high 73 runs, and Najmul Hossain Shanto’s unbeaten 47 runs helped Bangladesh score 158-2. Before being run out in consecutive deliveries, captain Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan had England on track to avoid being swept. In the end, England fell to 142-6 in 20 overs.

The English team did win the ODI series against Bangladesh last month, winning 2-1, but the hosts won the series finale by 50 runs. On March 18, when it hosts Ireland, the team led by Shakib will resume play in the game’s shortest format.

Punjab Kings have announced more changes to their support staff ahead of the next IPL, bringing back Wasim Jaffer as their batting coach and Charl Langeveldt as the bowling coach. They have also roped in Brad Haddin as the assistant coach.

In September, they appointed Trevor Bayliss as head coach, after Anil Kumble’s contract was not renewed. Earlier this month, Shikhar Dhawan replaced Mayank Agarwal – who was also recently released from the squad – as captain for IPL 2023. Kings had failed to make the playoffs for three consecutive seasons under Kumble. Jaffer, who was appointed in the role ahead of the 2020 season under Kumble. Had stepped down ahead of the mega auction last year. In July 2021, he was appointed chief coach of the Odisha Ranji team. Following this he took up a role with the Bangladesh U-19 side.

Apart from Agarwal and Odean Smith, none of their other releases were major players in their first XI last season. Kings go into the IPL 2023 auction, slated for December 23, with the second-highest purse of INR 32.2 crore. The Indian team management must decide if they want to play both Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik in the playing XI or whether there is only room for one of these two as the wicketkeeper-batter ahead of the three-match T20I series against Australia. This year, Pant’s performance in the shortest format has not been fantastic, whereas Karthik has demonstrated his ability to stylishly end innings. Wasim Jaffer, a former Indian batter, stated that he would select Dinesh Karthik over Rishabh Pant for the opening T20I matchup with Australia.

Rishabh Pant does not fit in at number 4 or 5, according to Jaffer, who also stated that leaving him out of the World Cup “would be the wisest thing.”

“They (India) need to figure out whether Rishabh Pant plays or not. The Indian thinktank has been thinking a lot about putting Rishabh Pant in. He has been brilliant and we have talked about it many times that in Test cricket and in the ODIs, he has played really series-winning, game-changing knocks, but that has not happened in T20 internationals or even in T20s,”

Jaffer said on ESPNcricinfo’s ‘T20 Timeout’.

“So I think India need to figure out whether they want to stick with Rishabh Pant in the top six or if they want to stick with Dinesh Karhitk, who has done really well since the IPL, whichever opportunity he has got. For me personally, Rishabh Pant does not fit in number 4 or 5. His best place probably is to open batting, which I don’t think will happen because KL, Rohit and Virat are going to occupy that 1-2-3. I feel leaving out Rishabh Pant for now in the World Cup will be the best thing.”

Further talking about Pant, Jaffer said

The 24-year-old found it difficult to elicit suggestions of his return to the top of the list. Pant has only briefly opened for India in T20Is, with at best mediocre success. But if he were to start at the top, vice-captain KL Rahul would lose his preferred opening position.

Jaffer thinks the pace sensation Umran Malik needs to bring more variations to his game and should get enough first-class matches under his belt. Thereafter, the former batter picked Hardik Pandya as the leader of the team and reckoned that Rahul Tripathi and Harshal Patel should get their chances.

“Umran Malik needs to bring more variations in his game, as we all know he has pace. But on his bad day, he can be hit for 40-50 runs. If he plays enough first-class matches and plays for India A, he can get better,” said Jaffer on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket’ Show. “In my team, I have got Dhawan, Gaikwad, and Shaw, who I think have been brilliant. I think this will be the best second-string team,” he added.

Dravid was named as the coach of the Shikhar Dhawan-led young Indian side for the white-ball series in Sri Lanka as regular captain Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri are currently in England preparing for the five-match Test series.

BCCI, for the first time, decided to prepare two Indian sides that will play simultaneously in Sri Lanka and England.

In a recent video uploaded to his official YouTube channel, Jaffer gave an unpopular or say odd opinion in which he said that Rahul Dravid should remain as the backbone and coach of the India A and U19 team. This opinion comes from him after there were discussions amongst fans on social media that Dravid should be made the head coach of the senior men’s national team permanently, from some aspects that seem to be true but to declare that is Not a good habit of India’s former opener.

He needs to stay at the NCA for a longer period for our bench strength: Wasim Jaffer on Rahul Dravid

“The amount of good players that are coming, the credit definitely goes to the BCCI, the way they have developed the infrastructure and pathway. India now has a strong supply line. Even more, credit goes to Rahul Dravid, the way he is working as head coach at the NCA, and the way he guiding u-19 players, India A, and fringe players. There can’t be a better role model or better mentor than Rahul Dravid,” Jaffer said.

“He is going as a coach of this Indian team to Sri Lanka. I’m sure those youngsters will benefit a lot. I personally feel that he shouldn’t push to become the coach of the national team. And, I feel that he needs to work with these India U19 players and India A players at the NCA. I think the international players who play in the Indian team are a finished product,” Jaffer said on his YouTube channel.

Jaffer further explained that the mentorship and guidance are required by the U19 and India A players and Dravid can help in making them prepare better for the time when they go to international cricket. “But Rahul Dravid’s mentorship and guidance are more needed at the u-19 and India A level. His guidance is crucial for them to achieve the next level. So I think he needs to stay at the NCA for a longer period of time for our bench strength so that it keeps growing stronger,” Jaffer said.

The three-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka will kick off on July 13.

Ever since Rahul Dravid was appointed as a temporary coach of the second half of New team India different advice, opinions are coming into the limelight furthermore it’s very interesting to see how well team India performs against Sri Lanka under the guidance of Wall of India and captaincy of Dhawan.
