After arriving at the RCB camp, Virat Kohli praises Faf du Plessis

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have named a new captain for the IPL 2022. Kohli relinquished his position as captain of the franchise at the end of last season after nine seasons in the role. Faf’s decision to lead the team by example was revealed by RCB manager Kohli.

In the dressing room, the veteran South African batter is respected as a leader by the batting superstar. He also stated that they were crystal clear about this when they pulled in DuPlessis at the Bengaluru mega auction last month. During the auctions, Faf had a very clear role to play. The change room needs a leader who can command respect. In a video posted on Twitter, Kohli said, “Commands not demands, as he has been there and done that.”

”As a Test captain, his profile already includes many accolades, so we are thrilled to have him leading RCB. He is certain to be an excellent leader. I enjoy getting along with him, Maxwell, and Dinesh Karthik, as well as I hope the rest of the guys enjoy the tournament,” he continued.

He was not retained by the defending champions for the upcoming season despite his outstanding performances. Now that they are chasing their first IPL title, RCB can expect greater heights from the Proteas sensation. The Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on the Punjab Kings on March 27 at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium.
