The Australian team is hosting the West Indies team in a two-match Test series, and the Australian team has dominated the first half of the match. Recently, former captain Steve Smith has performed admirably in Test cricket. He has hit his second home run in just three innings. He now has 29 tons in Test cricket, making him the fourth-highest Australian century scorer in the game’s longest format. Ricky Ponting drives the outline with 41 Test tons, trailed by Steve Waugh (32), and Matthew Hayden (30). He has also surpassed former captain Michael Clarke in the same list as a result of his ton. Clarke is credited with 28 centuries.
Following his performance in the match against the West Indies, former Australian captain and star batsman Steve Smith has been added to the elite list of Test cricketers. After scoring yet another century in the longest format of cricket, the right-handed Australian batsman joins an elite group of cricketers.
Smith beat Donald Bradman’s record of 29 Test hundreds with an unbeaten 114 to help Australia secure their place in the test against the West Indies on Thursday. On the second day, Marnus Labuschagne (204) was out on the penultimate ball before lunch, and Australia finished the day 402-3. After dropping Labuschagne twice on 132 and 194, wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva eventually caught Labuschagne after he hit his 20th boundary off fast bowler Jayden Seales. Labuschagne died when he edged off spinner Roston Chase.
As Australia resumed the second day with a score of 293-2, with Labuschagne scoring 154 and Smith scoring 59, the West Indies were eager for a breakthrough in gloomy conditions that were ideal for swing bowling. Instead, Labuschagne and Smith continued where they left off the night before, wreaking havoc on the tourists and taking the game away with each run. Smith’s flawless batwork in his 88th test match tied Don Bradman, a former Australia batting legend, for the record.

For Australia, only Ricky Ponting (41 points) and Steve Waugh (32 points) have scored more hundreds. With only nine boundaries in his 179 balls, Smith was more cautious. Following his 145 not out against Sri Lanka in Galle earlier this year, Smith scored his second century in three innings. Following his 215 against New Zealand in Sydney in January 2020, Labuschagne now has a double century. He batted for 483 minutes, completing 350 balls with 20 fours and a six.
Smith equals Rohit Sharma’s feat
Prominently, Smith has likewise equalled Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s accomplishment of hundreds in Worldwide Cricket. Smith now has the same number of tons in cricket as India’s hitman. The 33-year-old has 12 ODI centuries and 29 Test tons. He now sits ahead of New Zealander Ross Taylor and fellow New Zealander Matthew Hayden on the list of international cricketers with the most hundreds. Hayden and Taylor each have 40 tons. The Australian team chose to bat first in the Test match against the West Indies at Perth Stadium, Perth, after winning the toss. David Warner started the game early, but Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne added 142 runs in a stand before David Warner left on 65. However, Labuschagne continued the match with Smith as his partner, hitting a double hundred. Out of 350 balls, Labuschagne scored 204. Australia won the first day of the match with a score of 293/2 and started the second day strongly.
