England, the white-ball champions get ready to take on Bangladesh, a side that tends to play out of its skins at home. They recently beat a full-strength Indian side at home, which is proof of their strength in their own backyard. With turning pitches on offer, the advantage is with them while England will get a really nice opportunity to test their ability against spin ahead of the World Cup.
Date: 1st March 2023
Time: 11:30 AM IST
Venue: Mirpur
The Weather at Mirpur is pretty good for the upcoming game.
The Mirpur track is expected to be dry and full of spin.
Played- 21 | Bangladesh-4 | England- 17
Tamim Iqbal, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Litton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain, Mehedi Hasan Miraj, Mustafizur Rahman, Ebadot Hossain, Taskin Ahmed
Jason Roy, Phil Salt, Dawid Malan, Will Jacks, Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Reece Topley, Jofra Archer/ Mark Wood, Adil Rashid
Thanks to injury, Tamim Iqbal missed a lot of cricket in recent months. He played the BPL to get his rhythm back and looked very good in the tournament, but with an international comeback coming up Iqbal will be eager to score some runs and reclaim his spot at the top of the batting order.
In the absence of Archer and Wood over the last year, Reece Topley made a lot of noise. His height, left-arm angle and accuracy helped him keep his spot in the side as their premier bowler with the star pacers absent. Now, with Archer and Wood back though, Topley has a fight ahead. With the variation he offers, he will be a huge asset, complimenting the pace pair, but will have to prove himself with more consistent performances.
Bangladesh are generally favorites at home but with England’s mindset and strength in ODI Cricket, they could be the side with the best chance of beating Bangladesh at honme.
