Multiple players experienced ups and downs on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) central contracts list for the 2021-22 cycle. With only five players on BCCI’s central contracts list for the 2021-22 season, the highest category remained unchanged, with captain Rohit Sharma, vice-captain Virat Kohli, and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah retaining their places. By comparison, there were 10 players in category A during the 2021-22 cycle.
Category A of the new central contracts includes Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Mohammed Shami. Chopra, however, believes that Jadeja should have received a promotion to the A+ category due to his consistent performances for the Indian national team. The next contract list will also include KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant in the A+ category along with Jadeja. ”No changes have been made in the A+ category, which includes Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah. Yet Ravindra Jadeja has not been included. That list should include Jadeja’s name. Jadeja’s name will be included in the next central contract list because of his stellar performance,” Chopra stated during a recent interaction with the media.
”His grade is currently A. I predict both KL Rahul and Jadeja will be in the A+ category in the next list. Rishabh Pant will also be a strong contender. He is the vice-captain of the team. All of them should be promoted to A+,” concluded the former Indian batter.
