Fast bowler Josh Tongue’s unfortunate injury sustained during the England Lions camp has led to Matthew Potts being called up as his replacement in England’s squad for the upcoming one-day international (ODI) series against West Indies.
The 26-year-old Tongue, yet to make his mark in white-ball cricket, faces an untimely setback, prompting the inclusion of Durham seamer Potts. Potts, 25, last featured in ODIs against Ireland in September, bringing three matches of experience to the squad.

The three-match ODI series is set to kick off in Antigua on Sunday, 3 December, followed by a five-game T20 series starting on 12 December. This series marks England’s return to action after their disappointing World Cup exit, with a notable reshuffling of the squad. Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, and Chris Woakes have been omitted from the ODIs but find a place in the T20 . Dawid Malan, on the other hand, has been left out entirely.
Despite Tongue’s absence, England looks to regroup with Potts, who contributed significantly to Durham’s promotion in the County Championship, claiming an impressive 54 wickets in 21 matches during the summer.
