Chennai Super Kings secured their first victory after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 22nd Match of IPL 2022 season on 13th April at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. CSK won by a solid 23 runs attaining a grand total of 216 runs with some of the most amazing batting by Robin Uthappa (88 off 50 balls) and Shivam Dube (95 not out off 46 balls). Uthappa and Dube shared 165 runs for the third wicket, the highest of the season and restricted Bangalore to just 193 runs.
Maheesh Theekshana took four wickets for 34 runs and Ravindra Jadeja got three for the team. Chennai showed a thoroughly impressive game, scoring 216/4 in the 20 overs, giving us an all-round performance terribly defeating RCB.
Although Suyash Prabhudessai, Shahbaz Ahmed and Dinesh Karthik individually showcased skills, it wasn’t enough for the team to win today and Bangalore suffered their second loss.
Maheesh had a brilliant head start to his IPL 2022 campaign as he dismissed Bangalore captain Plessis for just eight runs of nine deliveries. 3 overs later, RCB scored 14 runs for the loss of one wicket. He proceeded to dismiss both the opponent openers- Shahbaz Ahmed and Suyash Prabhudessai, putting RCB in a ditch as they managed to score only 140 runs at the end of 15 overs still needing a 100 runs to win off the last seven overs.
RCB’s Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva took two wickets alongside Josh Hazlewood who got one. Chasing the long-fetched target, Royal Challengers Bangalore was curbed at 193 for 9. The team lost both openers Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell pretty early in the match.
Chennai Super Kings might have been lagging behind a little bit earlier, but with this win, they have overshadowed everyone else pretty fast. RCB is yet to pick themselves up again. All that’s left to see is if the winning team would keep up the same intensity in the upcoming games!
