Former India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly  was thrilled to announce his Bollywood Biopic on Thursday, 9 September. Confirming the development he himself tweeted on the same, saying his journey from The Indian captain to current BCCI President will soon be brought to the Silver screen.

“Cricket has been my life, it gave me confidence and ability to walk forward with my head held high, a journey to be cherished,”. “Thrilled that Luv Films will produce a biopic on my journey and bring it to life for the big screen,” Ganguly tweeted. Replying to his tweet, Luv Ranjan tweeted – “We are thrilled to announce that Luv Films will produce Dada Sourav Ganguly’s biopic. We are honoured to be entrusted with this responsibility and look forward to a great innings,”.

Sourav Ganguly, fondly known as Dada had a remarkable career and is considered to be one of the most successful skippers Indian team have ever seen. There was a time when the reputation of the Indian cricket team was clattered due to match fixing. It was one of the difficult times for the team as a lot of questions and criticisms were raised on the future of Indian cricket. Sourav Ganguly came as a saviour and took the responsibility. With his outstanding captaincy and overtime efforts, he helped the team to reach greater heights and reputation. Ganguly had never shied away from giving youngsters a chance and had created future stars like Yuvraj Singh, Mohammed Kaif, Virendar Sehwag and among others. His immense contribution is an answer to where India’s reputation in the Cricket federation stands today.

Before Ganguly, cricket biopics have been made in Bollywood including those of Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Mohammad Azharuddin. It is speculated that Ranbir Kapoor has been approached to play the lead in the Biopic as Ganguly had previously expressed that he wishes Ranbir Kapoor to portray his role in the biopic. The release date has still not been disclosed as the film is in its initial stage. Whether it’s Ranbir or any actor, fans are eagerly waiting for the biopic. Let’s await the story of a legend!
