In a low-scoring match of Mumbai Indians versus Delhi Capitals, DC defeats Mumbai Indians by 4 wickets and 5 balls to spare in match 46 of the Indian Premier League 2021 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday.
Shreyas Iyer led the team to victory with 33 not out, while skipper, Rishabh Pant made 26. Mumbai Indians could only score 129 for 8, while Delhi Capitals who have already qualified for the play-offs surpassed the given target in 19.1 overs with Ashwin scoring a solid six, maintaining a 20 not out, sealing the fate of the match.
With the last match, it has become evident that MI has been struggling with getting into the play-offs although still unsuccessful, worsening the situation further for them, none of the players could cross the 20-run mark as Axar scored 3/21 while Avesh Khan held the best score of 3/15.
Today was a dark day for the MI supporters since star bowler R Ashwin was completely of the track while Axar (3/21) dismissed any efforts made by Quinton De Kock (19), Suryakumar Yadav (33) and Saurabh Tiwari (15) making it all the more harder for runs to flow in for Mumbai Indians.
Delhi Capitals got hold of their 2nd position in the points table, thus doubling the charm of the tournament. Risabh Pant must extremely happy and proud of his team. Kudos to Iyer and Pant to have achieved success at such an young age!
