On Sunday, Dhoni joined the Indian team for the T20 World Cup, which will be held at UAE. Legends like Dhoni who led his team to win the IPL for the fourth time by defeating KKR has been assigned as the mentor for the Indian cricket team. During his captaincy, he is the only captain under whom India got three ICC trophies- 2007 T20 World cup, 2011 ODI World cup and 2013 Champions Trophy in England. As per BCCI’s twitter posts, Dhoni was seen having conversations with Ravi Sastri and other board members.
Virat Kohli will be captaining India for the last time as ODI captain in the T20 World Cup, and Dhoni’s mentorship will act as a boost up for the team. According to Hindustan Times, Kohli said at a press conference “He makes a difference when he is in a leadership role in any team. Absolutely delighted to have him in the environment. He will certainly boost the morale of this team further”. Dhoni is quite excited to be back in his own environment again.
India will be starting their campaign in the T20 World Cup on 24th October with their first match being against their greatest ever rival, Pakistan. We, all Indians are eagerly waiting for the D-day, hoping to see India perform at their best.
