The first game of the IPL is just three days away, and CSK and KKR will square off. The Indian allrounder Ravichandran Ashwin said Virat Kohli, in his position as former skipper of the RCB, could take over as captain next season.
Ashwin revealed on his YouTube channel that South African cricketer Faf Du Plessis might only play for two-three years in the IPL. Virat Kohli has endured significant stress in his role as captain in recent years, and Ashwin believes 2022 will be a break for him. As per the allrounder, RCB may rehire him as captain next season. Ashwin believes Du Plessis has the experience, and we may get a glimpse of MS Dhoni in his captaincy. Their first match will be against the Punjab Kings on March 27. At the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, Chennai Super Kings will play against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Despite many changes in the teams, the Chennai Super Kings have retained most of their old players. Faf Du Plessis, however, has not been acquired by Chennai. The Royal Challengers Bangalore team has acquired Faf Du Plessis in the IPL 2022 auction for Rs 7 crores, and he has been named captain. Ravichandran Ashwin was selected by the Rajasthan Royals this year.
