The Border Gavaskar Trophy comes to a close with this Fourth Test between India and Australia in Ahmedabad. Australia won the Third Test by nine wickets in Indore last week but still trail 2-1 in the series. India will have been hurt by their defeat and will be very keen to respond in this game. With the strength in their spin bowling and batting, they should be too strong for Australia. Australia will approach this game with more confidence after their big win last week. However, they will need to play to an even higher standard if they are to win this Test against a strong India team in home conditions.

This venue has delivered very spin-friendly surfaces in previous games and after seeing similar pitches across the series, we expect more of the same in this Test.

Very few pundits foresaw Australia’s win in Indore and it was a brilliant performance from their spinners on Day One which set up the victory. Australia will approach this game with more confidence after their big win last week. A couple of early wickets for Australia in this game could well see some nerves in the India batting line-up and amongst their supporters. However, we anticipate India to come back in this Test and to play Australia’s spinners, Lyon in particular, with more skill. Considering the team combination, India is expected to win this match.
