On Tuesday, Indian opener Shubman Gill scored 2,000 runs in international cricket. This milestone was reached by the batter, who was 23 years old, in the third and final ODI of India’s series against New Zealand at Holkar Stadium in Indore. Gill maintained his consistency and made the most of every opening-day opportunity. In just 78 balls, he hit 112 runs. He hit 13 fours and five sixes in his knock. The strike rate during his innings was 143.58.
In international cricket, he has scored 208, making him the best individual scorer with five centuries and nine fifties.
Gill has scored 736 runs over 25 innings at an average of 32.00 in 13 Test matches. In the format, he has one century and four half-centuries, with a best score of 110.
Gill has scored 1,254 runs at an average of 73.76 in 21 ODIs and equal number of innings. In the format, he has recorded four centuries and five half-centuries, with a best score of 208.
In three T20I matches for India, the batter has scored 58 runs at an average of 19.33, with a best of 46.
Gill has had a fantastic 2023 in one-day internationals, scoring 567 runs in six innings for an average of 113.40. This year, he has the highest score, 208, with three ODI tons and a fifty.
The 23-year-old batter set a new record by becoming the Indian with the most runs scored in a three-match ODI series during this match.
Gill finished the three-match ODI series against the Kiwis with 360 runs, an average of 180 per match. In this series, he has two centuries, his best score being 208.
Virat Kohli had previously scored the most runs by an Indian player in an ODI series. In a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, he had recently scored 283 runs, including two centuries and a best of 166.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who also scored 360 runs in a three-match ODI series against West Indies in 2016, scoring a century in each match, is Gill’s equal.

When it comes to the game, India’s innings are currently underway. New Zealand chose to field first after winning the toss. Rohit (101) and opener Shubman Gill (112 runs combined) scored 222 runs. New Zealand then made a comeback in the match by taking five wickets at regular intervals and winning the match.
