The BCCI did not say how bad the injury was, and the NCA will test him to find out how long he will be out of action. His replacement for the series is Rajat Patidar.
Rajat Patidar replaces Shreyas Iyer (injury) in the ODI series vs New Zealand.
“Team India batter Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match ODI series against New Zealand due to a back injury. He will be heading to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for further assessment and management. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Rajat Patidar as a replacement for Shreyas Iyer,” BCCI said in the official release.
Iyer failed to elevate his innings during the ODI series against Sri Lanka, scoring 28, 28, and 38 in the three matches. On the other hand, Patidar’s domestic performance has been quite impressive, and the Madhya Pradesh cricketer has been in the team for the last few series.
