India won the three-match T20I series 3-0 on Sunday, led by Rohit Sharma. Rohit’s presentation of the trophy to Venkatesh Iyer and Harshal Patel was a beautiful sight. Dhoni has followed tradition since he became India’s captain. The trend continued when Virat Kohli was captain, and it was carried on by Rohit Sharma.

However, this wasn’t the first time the Hitman imitated Dhoni. He repeated the gesture during the Asia Cup final in 2018. Khaleel Ahmed, the newest member of the team at the time, was presented the trophy by Rohit after Bangladesh’s defeat.

After the T20 World Cup in UAE, Virat Kohli handed Rohit Sharma the T20I captaincy. Kohli resigned as captain of the Indian T20I team before the start of the tournament in order to manage his workload. Last week, Rohit led his team to a comprehensive victory over New Zealand in his first series as captain.

Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer both scored some runs in the middle, but were both dismissed quickly. Harshal Patel and Deepak Chahar scored 39 runs together in the second half of the innings. After 20 overs, India reached 184/7. India bowled out New Zealand for just 111 runs in reply. Martin Guptill was the Kiwis’ only hope, but they sank drastically after his dismissal. Whether Rohit keeps this spirit in his upcoming matches will be interesting to watch!
