India will host Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series after defeating the West Indies in both ODIs and T20Is. There have been several changes to the team, with Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant being rested, while Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja have returned to play. Surya Kumar Yadav, the player of the series in the T20Is against the West Indies, is injured and will miss the match. It’s a fantastic chance for young players to seize it with both hands.
Sri Lanka, on the other side, had a disastrous last T20I series against Australia, losing 4-1. They were relieved after winning the last T20I. They don’t have a great record against India, having only won one bilateral T20I series. Beating India on home turf will be a tremendous test for them.
Match: India vs Sri Lanka.
Date: February 24, 2022
Time: 07:00 PM IST.
Venue: Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
The weather in Lucknow for the India Vs Sri Lanka game is expected to be bright tomorrow. The temperature will reach 31 degrees Celsius during the day and 15 degrees Celsius at night. The weather will be dry, with no precipitation and clouds covering 9% of the sky, with a humidity of approximately 48%.
So far, the surface has been conducive to quick bowling, and both teams will try to bolster their bowling attack. Batting first has generated better results on the wicket, and despite the dew element, the skipper who wins the toss may be inclined to put a score on the board in tihs India Vs Sri Lanka encounter.
Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Ravindra Jadeja, Harshal Patel, Bhuveshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal
Dasun Shanaka (c), Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Pathum Nissanka, Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka, Chamika Karunaratne, Dusmantha Chameera, Maheesh Theekshana, Jeffrey Vandersay, Lahiru Kumara
Shreyas Iyer
For the West Indies T20Is, Shreyas Iyer was in and out of the team, and it was sad that he had to sit out the first two games. He did got his turn in the third game, but although looking well in the little time he was out in the middle, he could only hit a quickfire 25 off 16 balls.
Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel has been a revelation for India since his introduction to the team, and he has made a solid case for his inclusion ahead of the T20 World Cup later this year. The Haryana all-rounder was one of India’s major takeaways from the West Indies series, and despite being new to international cricket, he has handled pressure admirably.
For the T20I series, India has decided to rest major guns like Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant, but they will return for the longer format. Sanju Samson has been recalled to the side as Ishan Kishan’s backup wicketkeeper, and the series is considered to be a significant chance for the youth.
In the meanwhile, Sri Lanka is coming off a 1-4 setback in Australia, although they were able to put together some positives towards the conclusion of the series. Pathum Nissanka had a fantastic series with the bat, while Lahiru Kumara impressed with his speed. Due to Covid-19, they will be without their match-winner Wanindu Hasaranga, who can turn games around with both bat and ball. We think India will steal the win this time.
