RR Vs GT: RR remain on top of the table after a close and thrilling win against the Lucknow Super Giants. In the previous game, their batting depth was exposed as they struggled in the middle overs against LSG’s leg-spinners. Despite the collapse, RR used their resources well with Ravi Ashwin moving up the order to steer the innings. They also bought in a tactical aspect with Ravi Ashwin being the first batter to retire out in IPL history. The bowling handled pressure nicely and is an aspect that looks well balanced for the Royals.
GT lost their first game of the season against SRH, missing a chance to go to the top of the table.Their bowlers are doing a great job despite Lockie Ferguson having a bad day in the previous game. With the bat, GT are handling their limited resources well and remain strong contenders for a top spot in the early stages of the tournament.
Match: RR Vs GT
Date: 14th April 2022
Time: 7:30 PM
Venue: DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai
The weather is clear for the RR Vs GT game with minimal chances of rain.
The surface was dry and had some footpaths allowing for some nice grip and turn in the previous game. Spinners can get some purchase but the surface is still very batting-friendly, making it better to chase if you win the toss.
Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson (capt & wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, R Ashwin, Navdeep Saini/Obed McCoy, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal
Shubman Gill, Matthew Wade (wk)/Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Vijay Shankar, Abhinav Manohar, Hardik Pandya (capt), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Darshan Nalkande, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami
RR dropped Jaiswal and went with Padikkal at the top in the previous game. The move shortened the batting line-up and to improve the balance of the side they may revert back to the previous line-up.
LSG is expected to remain unchanged.
Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin made history in the IPL yet again by becoming the first batter to retire out. He came into bat early and played a crucial role in batting out some important overs while looking for runs at a decent pace. With Rajasthan’s team composition, Ashwin will continue to have a decent role with the bat, and as a bowler, he will be eager to get among the wickets after bowling some silent spells so far in the season.
Mohammad Shami
Shami is one of the best new ball bowlers in the tournament and his match-up with Jos Buttler is going to be a big one. If Shami manages to land the ball well, he could make huge inroads and derail Rajasthan early in the game.
Both teams are in strong form and have balanced sides. GT though has some quality players while Rajasthan has holes that are ever so small, but enough for a talented GT side to capitalize on.
Match Prediction: GT will win the match.
