MI Vs LSG: Mumbai Indians are still winless. The last time they lost the first five games of the tournament was back in 2014, and from that position, Mumbai Indians managed to qualify. History suggests that they are used to situations like these but the Mumbai Indians have a long way to go if they are to qualify from this point. As a team, there batting line-up has some wonderful players, but Rohit Sharma’s form is a concern. With the ball, they are overly dependent on Bumrah and will need to find some other bowlers, who could step up and do the job.
LSG are in a balanced position having lost their last game by a mere three runs. The return of Stoinis has helped them deepen their batting line-up while LSG also experimented with Gowtham and Holder up the order.
Match: MI Vs LSG
Date: 16th April 2022
Time: 3:30 PM
Venue: Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai
The weather is predicted to be hot through the day with clear skies during the MI Vs LSG game. There is no rain predicted during the MI Vs LSG fixture.
As it is a day game, dew may not have much of an effect. The surface though may be drier and slower due to the heat and that could bring spinners into play. With a drier surface likely, batting first will be a better option.
Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma (capt), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Dewald Brevis, Kieron Pollard, Fabian Allen, M Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Tymal Mills, Jaydev Unadkat/Basil Thampi
KL Rahul (capt), Quinton de Kock (wk), Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Ayush Badoni, Krishnappa Gowtham, Jason Holder, Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, Dushmantha Chameera/Andrew Tye
Suryakumar Yadav
Against RCB, Suryakumar Yadav took his team to a respectable score with minimal support from the other end. Against PBKS he almost won the game for his side coming in at five and batting with bowlers at the death. While Suryakumar Yadav has made some minor errors, he is giving his best and looking very comfortable in a struggling lineup. He is using his experience and has been one of the only few players in the line-up to step up this season.
Marcus Stoinis
Stoinis made a tough entry into this IPL season as he found himself looking to clinch a chase that seemed gone. He impressed coming in at number eight but couldn’t get his team over the line despite some lusty blows in the end. With Stoinis, the side has more depth though, and he provides a lot of options with both bat and ball.
MI is still struggling while LSG is looking very comfortable. On paper and form, LSG has a strong advantage as MI has some huge gaps in both batting and bowling. However, Rohit Sharma hasn’t been scoring as much this season and it is only a matter of time before he brings out his explosive self. If he can manage to find form against LSG. MI will be far ahead of the game as they have some incredible individual talent. Unless the individual talent steps up though, a win for MI seems tough.
Match Prediction: LSG will win the match.
