MI vs CSK: The El-classico is upon us with Mumbai taking on Chennai. Historically, both teams are the most successful in the league with nine titles between them. The tournament generally sees both sides competing for the title.
The 2022 mega auction though has changed the dynamics of the tournament. Both teams lost most of their core and are now on the brink of elimination. A loss all but ends Mumbai’s tournament while a a loss for Chennai will put them in a do or die situation.
To start off, the bowling from both sides has been poor. The batting for Mumbai is inconsistent with Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard failing. For Chennai Super Kings, barring Theekshana, the powerplay has been a hassle.
Match: MI vs CSK
Date: 21st April 2022
Time: 7:30 PM IST
Venue: DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai
The weather is clear with no rain in the forecast for the MI vs CSK game.
The pitch is showing signs of wear with spin finally getting some assitance. There is early swing on offer as well while the odd ball keeps low. The dew factor though still keeps it easier for the batters, making chasing a better option.
Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma (capt), Dewald Brewis, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard/Tim David, Fabian Allen, M Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Tymal Mills/Riley Meredith, Jaydev Unadkat
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni (wk), Ravindra Jadeja (capt), Dwayne Bravo, Chris Jordan/Dwaine Pretorius, Maheesh Theekshana, Mukesh Choudhary
Kieron Pollard
Kieron Pollard has announced his international retirement on the eve of a match against one of his favorite IPL sides. His form hasn’t been great this season but retirement and the opposition may boost him. Kieron Pollard has a handful of incredible knocks agaisnt the men in yellow and last season’s knock in a stiff run-chase is a prime example.
Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad has finally hit some form. He started patiently and shifted gears smoothly like in previous seasons to get a good score. While the bowling made his efforts go in vain, his form still remains key as he can now assist Chennai in getting some nice scores while batting.
Both teams have an intense rivalry, but on head to head, the Mumbai Indians are ahead of the Chennai Super Kings. They enjoy a one-sided dominance and come into the game with an advantage despite recent results.
Match Prediction: MI will win the match.
