Cameron Green, Mumbai Indians (MI)’s largest IPL 2023 auction acquisition, will only be available as a bowling option on April 13. During the Boxing Day Test against South Africa, he suffered an injury that forced him to miss some time.
Green was purchased by MI at the IPL 2023 mega-auction last month for a whopping 17.5 crore. During the event, the youngster was one of the most desired candidates. Despite his lack of professional experience, his ability to change the batting order and generate movement off the surface make him a useful addition.
The all-rounder is an important element of the Australian team, particularly in red-ball cricket. He brings a certain symmetry to the team and has a very busy schedule in the following months, with Australia’s trip to India and the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
The Times of India reported that Cricket Australia informed the franchisees that Green’s workload would be evaluated during the competition, especially if he participated in all four Tests during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in February and March.
Hemang Amin, CEO of BCCI and IPL COO, sent an email to each of the ten teams early on December 23.
“Cricket Australia has informed this morning that Cameron Green (player No. 8) will be fully available. However, if he features in all the four Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Green will not be able to bowl for four weeks from the conclusion of the fourth Test scheduled from 9th March to 13th March, 2023.”
According to the communication
The Perth-born player’s Australian colleagues warned him about the difficulties caused by his workload when he entered the auction.
