James Pattinson retires from International cricket on Wednesday as he suffered from a recent knee injury, but he will be continuing himself with domestic cricket.

Australian bowler James Pattinson took himself off from international cricket  on Wednesday after realising that he won’t be able to work out for the Ashes series due to injuries. The 31-year-old bowler, who has played 21 Tests and 15 ODIs, however, will continue to pick up the threads with domestic cricket.

Pattinson had recently gone through a knee injury during an intrasquad Victorian trial game. Pattinson quoted “Leading into pre-season I really wanted to give the Ashes a crack but in the end I haven’t had the preparation I would have liked heading into the coming season”. Pattinson said that it would be unfair for himself and to his teammates and thus didn’t want to be in a position to fight with his own body, when a sportsperson needs to be 100% fit and ready to play at any series or tournament. He has only three to four of his cricket years left, and hence he would focus more on Victoria, helping the young lads develop and spend more time with his family. He took 81 Test wickets and 16 ODI scalps in his career after making his Test debut in December 2011 with Mitchell Starc and David Warner

His last Test was against New Zealand in Sydney in January 2020 and after that he got injured. Pattinson is an ultimate bowler who claimed 81 test wickets and gave many trophies to the Ausi team. His retirement from test cricket is not only a loss for the Australian team but also for the world cricket.
