Virat Kohli might not be hitting runs at the rate he does usually, but on the occasion of his 100th Test, the former India captain will reach a new milestone in his career. The fastest to complete 8000 runs in the longest format is Kohli, who is among the most prolific scorers in the game’s history. The next few runs Kohli scores in Mohali will put him on the same level as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag, and VVS Laxman who have climbed Mount. 8k in Test cricket.

In addition, Kohli will become only the fifth player to reach 8000 runs in Test cricket, joining the likes of Tendulkar (154 innings), Dravid (158 innings), Sehwag (160 innings), and Gavaskar (166 innings). Through 168 innings of playing pure cricket, Virat has scored 7962 runs. It would be Kohli’s 100th Test, so he would be keen to become the 71st player to reach the milestone.

Despite his form issues, Kohli would like to repeat his excellent record against Sri Lanka. A Test series against the Lankans was the last time the 33-year-old batted against them. The Indian skipper has aggregated only 208 runs for India since the start of 2021 at an average of 26.00. During this time, he has been dismissed eight times for ducks.
